Pre-op appt yesterday. All systems are go! But I gotta ask...
Good morning everyone. I had my appt yesterday.
Went well. He had a goal for me of 190...I came in at 189.4!
He closely inspected the skin under my panni. Said it looked great.
Ready to go...Aug 8...day surgery outpatient.
And then he told me..."whatever you do, don't get a rash under here!!! If you show up with a rash, we will have to cancel the surgery."
Christ...like I need anything else to worry about.
I have a whole hygiene routine I stick with to keep those things at bay...but it is summer in Texas and I have a big ol' apron!!!
No easy feat. But his advice was not to try anything new. No new products, laundry stuff, bath gels. No new bath/shower routine. Whatever I am doing...keep it the same.
Geez...it never ends. Anyway, he said that at the first sign of trouble, I needed to call hm for a script if sumthin happens down there so we can nip it in the bud.
Okay...I was happy. We discussed risks and expectations. I will have a large horizontal cut. Damn near all the way around as my panni/roll starts at about mid butt-cheek. Plus I will have the vertical incision (fleur de lis). We had a long talk about the umbilicus. I told him if it at all looks compromised...I want it gone.
I don't care enough about it to risk wound healing problems in that area.
Now...my question. He said no Compression Garments for me...at all. He is of the opinion that it can affect blood flow and ultimately lead to healing problems, necrosis and the like.
I was sorta kinda thinkin I might need it for comfort and to reduce swelling but he is not gonna budge. He is the captain of the ship and I will do what he advises as he has done many of these with beautiful results but I will admit to being a little nervous.
What say you? Anyone else here do this without post-op compression?

Yay..You're on your way..!!
Just follow your surgeons advice..each one has their on style for various reasons...After you have your surgery, you will know more about how things are going, and if, they seem to be going in a direction you fee lyou could use the binder, maybe, you can convince him that you need the binder...Anyway, don't worry, there have been many, on here, that did not use a binder...and they did GREAT..!
I had a HUGE apron, and I never got a rash..After every shower and drying off, I would use a stick deodrant all up under my roll..It kept the everyting odor free and rash free...Just keep doing what you are doing..it's working..!!
I'm excited for you...your day will be here sooner than soon..!

this may sound crazy, but after you get out of the shower, lift up the extra skin and dry underneath with the low dryer on low. Gets it nice and dry before you put powder or anything else on. It's what I did to clear up a yeast infection last year. Good luck. I'm with you on the whole umbilicus thing. Don't plan on a bikini, so who cares if I have one! Let me know what they do with it though.
