Day 2 after Fleur De Lis, Lipo and Implants.

Hey girls!  Can I say OUCH!!!!!????  I had the Fleur De Lis, Lipo (hips, outside of legs, side boobs), breast lift and impants yesterday outpatient.  I was really scared going in.  I was scared about pain and the whole outpaitent thing/getting home. The center for the most part was very nice.  My nurse at the end was rude and wanted me out of there in an hour or less.  I'm a nurse myself so I was pretty ticked off with that.  I was very dizzy yesterday from the anesthesia.  The pain yesterday was mostly from my new girls/lift/lipo.  The doctor said since I worked out a lot my tight muscles in my pecs would make the girls hurt worse.  I didn't have a hernia for once.  They took 10lbs off my stomach and probably another 8 lbs off with lipo.  I had an area set up in my family room thtat is down about 5 stairs but I can't do stairs yet.  So, I ended up on my couch.  I'm just sitting up.  My binder is very tight and I feel very swollen under it.  It's kind of hard to breath due to that.  I had to use my inhaler today.  I haven't used that forever.  I'm very painful today from the lipo  My legs/hips are very swollen.  My new boobs are very perky and tight.  I haven't had perky boobs since probably 5th grade.  I'm on oral liquid pain med every 4 hrs. I'm taking more than I did with bypass.  My bypass pain was very bad.  This is worse.   I'm supposed to take my dressings off tonight.  I sent my husband out for the dry shampoo cough drops and popsicles.  I'm not able to eat very much.  Yesterday I had greek yogurt, banana and a protein bar.
I'll update you later but I'm glad to be on the other side.

Hey Jodi. Good to hear from you.
Glad to see you are on your way!

Fellow nurse here so...stay rested and hydrated girl! You know the drill.
Get up and move...no DVTs!!

BTW...I'm with you on the nursing behavior thing at the hospital. I will speak to Patient Services when I encounter that sort of thing. Attitude is everything! I have worked very hard for 24 years now to treat all patients and coworkers with kindness and respect. But I don't suffers fools gladly...when I encounter nurses who don't do the same, I can't stay quiet.

Take care Hon! Post when you can.

Hey Jody...

Girrrrl, your first three to four days are going to be the most awful...Your binder may be too tight...I know I had to adjust my several times...If it feels too tight, more than likely it is.!!

I'm happy the surgery is behind you..Now, take those pain meds, take your stool softener each time you take your pain meds, drink your liquids, get in your protein as best you can, and move around often...!

Praying for you, sweetie..!!

Wow! Bless your heart! That was a lot of work to be outpatient surgery. I spent 2 nights in the hospital and so thankful for that. I would not have done well had I gone home the day of surgery.

You have good info.  I'm also a nurse, so you know the deep breathing and coughing is important.  I had protein shakes every day.  I just wasn't hungry for about 2 weeks - although I did have to resist wanting "comfort" food that I would have used in the old morbid obese days.  I had to talk myself out of those - my body had major surgery and needed nutrition/fuel for healing and strength.

Keep hydrated.  Take stool softners and probiotics if you are taking antibiotics to keep the bowel flora normal.

Each day will get better.  I had fleur de lis TT and brachioplasty and pain was definately worse than RNY (or open hysterectomy or open cholecystectomy & liver resection.)  So far the most painful surgery I've ever had.

Keep coming to the board for updates and encouragement.

Best wishes.

Another nurse here!  We really make very bad patients.  Keep deep breathing and moving. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.  You'll definitely be looking better!

Hi Jodi!
((((OUCH))))! I just had ONLY a lower body lift this past Monday. Girl you  sure did have the works!!!!! Definately don't wait too long to take those meds. Just like cyndy said, I also took stool softeners with every pain pill I took.  And while it was a long process 45 minutes for the BM, I had it 3 days after surgery, and 2 more the following day.
I currently can go up& down stairs. I waited until 3rd day to attempt it. But I stepped down backward and it helped alot. I use to stair climb at the works parking garage on a normal basis, but this was different. Now I can go up & down the stairs side ways holding onto the rail. Just when u do attempt it, make sure you have someone their with you.
Keep us posted,

Glad to hear surgery went well!  That sure is a lot to do as an outpatient!  You are much braver than I!  (I was concerned about just having arms done outpatient!)

I am less than 2 weeks out from my TT and other stuff and recently met with my Bariatric Surgeon (who has done like 6 surgeries for me -I had some complications) and he was not real uplifting saying that it will be the worse surgery I have had and he was very concerned and wanted to make sure I walked, but not to stand up straight as it will rip my stitches, sooooo, in his advice...walk bent over and drink protein shakes!
