Brachi Plasty IV Placement???? Where Was Yours?

Was your IV (for pain or anesthesia) in your arm/hand? If he lifts my big arm up is it going to slip out? Oh I know I'm getting paranoid as the days get closer. But that keeps coming to my head.

I don't know about anyone else, but mine was placed in a vein in my foot!  Truly I don't want to add to your stress, but I won't lie and tell you that it wasn't painful to me.  I have a skinny foot and I really don't have good veins in my hands or my foot.  So it took a bit of "hitting the vein".  I will say that after it was over, it wasn't too bad.

My surgeon told me that they can't operate "above" the IV, so that's why it wasn't in my hand/arm, but in my foot.  Unfortunately, I had to have it done 3 times.  :(

I hope someone else will be able to give you better news, and perhaps all surgeon/ anestheiologist (sp) don't feel the same way that mine did.

All the best to you,
:o)

After numerous tries to put the IV in my feet, the surgeon finally said he would place it in my neck once I was under.  Worked out fine.

Oh that's right Proudauntie.  I do remember that with one of my revisions, they did the same thing to me and put the IV in the neck vein once I was under.  It did work out that way also.

I have tough veins in my hands, but they finally got an infant IV in my hand to get me antibiotic and nausea meds, then put one in my foot while I was out!

I will be a week out tomorrow and I have to say if the incision was not numb I am sure it would hurt, but each day gets better!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

I had mine placed in my neck and it was done before I was put under. I kind of freaked out about it but it actually wasn't that bad.
