5 Days Post-Op; First Post-Op Visit

I had a BA and TT 5 days ago and had my first post-op visit today.  I was thrilled that my drain was removed.  My navel stitches were removed as was all the tape the surgeon had used as steri-strips.  The tape was removed because I was having an allergic reaction to it (I have always had problems with tape but this was fairly recently introduced and they had never ever had a reaction to it...until me).

I had posted an update yesterday under my post from a few days ago so won't repeat any of it here except to say that I have had a fairly easy experience.  I am so anxious for the next three months to pass so that the swelling subsides and I can see my total results!  I don't have the amount of swelling so many seem to experience but I know I have it as I can feel the uncomfortable fullness and, toward evening, my support garments are very uncomfortable.  Also, there has been no change in my hip or waist measurements which is impossible since the small overhang I had is gone - it has to be swelling.

I have to return for another post-op visit next week to be sure that there is no fluid accumulation (now that the drain is out).  So, all is well.  :)

Thanks for the update.  My belly swelling didn't really start till drains were out (at 3 weeks) and remains hard and swollen today.  There is a waist change (-4 inches) but I couldn't button jeans until I could stop wearing the abdominal binder and get in a form fitting compression garment.

Best wishes.

Thank You for updating! My surgery (LBL) is 4 days away, and I am realizing how anxious I am about it already. OMG my eating has not been the best. But I feel I will get it together from here on in.
Anyway thanxs for sharing!

Carmen, good luck on your surgery and may your recovery be as easy as mine has been!  I am a week out today and only need help to get the binder on.  I am out, about and feeling great.  Swelling is worst in evening but, being a nurse, I know that is normal.    I hope you have a very positive surgical experience!
