FOOD THAT IS..!!
I don't know WHAT is going on with me, (nerves?) but I have tried to eat the paint off the walls,
today..!!!

My surgery is in three days and i don't feel nervous, but all I have wanted to do today is EAT...It's  like I'm trying to see just how much I can eat BEFORE THE DAY...I can't hold much at one sitting, but the grazing MONSTER ha**** me insanely hard...I have grazed in this pasture and I have grazed in that pasture and I'm looking for a pasture to graze in after I've grazed in the last one...
(I HATE THE COW SYNDROME)!!!!!

Just wondered if any of you acted like a cow, a pig, a bird...WHATEVER...before your surgery..??

Also, Before I had the VSG, I was  huge water drinker..that is just about all I would drink other than tea...NOW, I drink water, bu****er hurts my tummy...so I don't get in all I should in a days time...I can drink Gator-aide and other sports drinks with out the slightest problem, but I know the added sugar/salt are not good for me..I have tried all kinds of water flavors, but nothing works to NOT hurt my tummy...(THE HURT IS JUST A VERY HEAVY, LEAD LIKE FEELING WITH EVEN ONE SWALLOW.) I can drink the sports drink and not hurt at all...
The reason I tell this, is because, I want to know what/how you feel about drinking a couple of sports drinks with other water during the days right after surgery...? I know I need to watch sodium, but without them, I don't think I will be able to get in enough liquids...Any suggestion..?

Thanks for reading the tales and woes of a soon to be PS patient..

One of the biggest "no-no's" I've seen is not to drink calories.  I know of more than one WLS patient that stalled or regained with this strategy.

That said - can you drink the SF sports drinks?  Like G2 or LifeWater?

It is weird to me that you can drink one liquid and not another...particularly if they are the same temperature.  What about experimenting with warm or hot liquids?  Or room temperature?

Grazing a little pre-surgery is probably a good idea...it is hard to get in enough calories post-surgery with the tightness and swelling and the effect of the pain killers.  So anything you gain will drop off after.  But don't get in the habit!  And try for good, healthy foods to boost your body for the ordeal ahead!

I know this sounds weird and crazy, and  don't know why it's this way..It's been like this from day one after surgery...Someone once said it had to do with the ph balance..I don't know, but it's odd to say the least.
That being said...I will try the SF Gatoraide, again, maybe it's changed from the first time I tried it, but it's worth a try or any of the other ones you named.

Thanks for the thoughts on the pre-surgery grazing... that mkes me feel a little better.

Cyndy- I have no words of wisdom as I am a few weeks behind you.

But Girl...I am a stress eater...big time!
I understand the grazing thing.

Hydration is uber-important. I guess if you can tolerate the sport drinks, okay.

I have never tried anything with sugar...too skeered!

I can't say I don't "drink" calories because I drink alot of skim milk at 80 cals a cup.

You take care! I am sending good vibes your way!!

Oh yes i am doing it right now. I am having surgery again on July 12Th and eating like there is no tomorrow. I guess it is all stress even when I go for a walk or bike ride it does not help me. I eat when it is surgery time this will be my 6Th surgery this year and i do not want it. I do not like going to sleep.

I know it is because of my up coming surgery but do not know how to stop all this grazing going on.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Hi Cyndy!
Mooooooo!!!! Right there with you on the grazing! Last 2 weeks awful grazing. But its calming down now that I recognize that it is "stress" even though I don't think I am stressed. I don't stress, or we may not stress like others, losing sleep. lossing our appitite and things like that. We internalize it, by not aknowledging the little things that we are concerned about. We've always pushed down the feelings with the food.

I am doing better, by getting busy with doing the things that need to be done. Today, I am cleaning out my medicine cabinets. Out with the out dated meds. and anything else that needs to be cleared out already. And replacing it with the items I will need at easy access. This weekend I cleaned out the fridge. Wiped it down, cleared out outdated foods, and removed leftovers. This weekend I also bought nice comfortable lounge wear, and 2 wrap around dresses to get out and about in when Im not ready to wear binding pants, and panties!!. I am setting up my magazines and reading materials little by little. But this helps me feel like I am doing something and moving in the right direction .

Hang in there!!!

HEY GIRL..

I've done all kinds of cleaning, disinfecting, packing, and getting prepared for everything...magazines stacked by my lift reclining chair...going tomorrow to buy easy pop in the microwave foods for my daughter...hubby, will cook a few things, but mostly hamburgers, so I know that will get old pretty quick...getting things for my daughter to nibble on and drink while they sit/sleep for the 7 hours I could be in surgery...I've made a list of all the things that need to be done by Wednesday night, and most of the list is checked off...

Now, it's chew on my fingernails, and wait for the call from my surgeons office, for the time to be there, Thursday morning for surgery...IT'S HERE...I'M MORE THAN READY AND EXCITED..!! NO SLEEP FOR ME TOMORROW NIGHT...!!

I'M HANGIN', GIRLFRIEND..I'M HANGIN'...LOL
