I am wondering when I can expect to be able to stand up straight again?  I had muscle repair (3 pregnancies) and was given instructions to walk at a 30 degree bend when leaving the hospital.  I'm sure that my PS will cover all this tomorrow at my appt. but just was wondering everyone else's experience?

Also, originally I took off two weeks from work but now am thinking I will now need at least an additional week off.  I am off my full-time job for the summber but at my part-time job I stand for about 2 1/2 hours 5 days a week.

Thanks!

 Hi Gracie
I would try to take the extra time, if you can.  I work from home and tried to go back after ten days, but was very tired.  I wouldnt have been able to stand for that long.

I walked hunched over for about 3, maybe 4 weeks, but it got better a little every day.  I would be much more straight up in the morning, but by the end of the day I was sore, swollen and hunched over.  I'm 7 weeks now and my husband still thinks I'm a little bent forward.

I was not given any requirements about how long to walk bent over, but told to walk however was the least painful.  Therefore I I was pretty much straight up and down at 1 week.  I was not made as tight as He could have done, because I have arthritis in my spine and Hips and he wanted to be conservative in case I had an arthritis flair while recovering from surgery and still on taking my arthritis meds.

As far as work goe, if you can get the extra time off TAKE IT!!!!!!  it never hurts to give your self more time to recover and make sure you don't need pain pills especially since you would have to stand for so long.

I was told to walk "comfortably" which was translated as if it hurts, bend over.

I was walking straight after a week, and normally after 2.

As far as time off, I had 2 1/2 weeks off and needed another day off that first week back due to fatigue, and I have a desk job. If I'd had to stand for 2 1/2 hours at a time, I think I would have needed 3-4 weeks, and I'm a fast healer.

I took 2 weeks off & made it but it was hard.  Another week off would have been great, I just didn't have the time off available especially with another surgery coming up in August.  I was bent over for a good 3 or 4 weeks.  He told me @ my 1 month postop to try & start standing straighter, which I then realized I could & it had kind of become a habit.   Still have a lot of what feels like stomach tightening or contracting that bothers me some.

Have really felt great here lately tho, even did alot this weekend!
