It's not a common thing but I'm 8 weeks out from "re-doing" a tummy tuck and adding breast implants.  Feeling great..... loved my surgeon...... still sore from the lipo but not doing too bad!

Long story short is I had a complete LBL (TT with muscle repair included) and BL in 2007.  But, for some reason about 6 months after my LBL my stomach was once again "distended" as if I had never had the procedure in the first place.  We lived in another state at the time so I could not see my original surgeon.  Four years passed and I'm back in TX so I found a new surgeon and he re-did the tummy tuck, lipo'ed my hips/flanks, and added implants and my profile has 8 wk out pictures for anyone who's curious.

I am a GB patient from 9 years ago (was 286 lbs now about 160 lbs).

How long is the recovery for TT? I have mine scheduled for Aug 12th. Any suggestions or tips?

The recovery process isn't too long.  I don't work but if I did I would have taken off 2 maybe 3 weeks.  You do have pain but it does get better each day.  For me the worst part of both surgeries was the extensive lipo I had done this time.  I still have some pain/soreness from lipo 8 weeks later.  The pain from the muscle repair was gone a couple weeks ago.  But, I took pain pills during the first couple weeks and tylenol/aleve since then and lately I haven't taken anything.  It's definitely bearable!  Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm taking 3 weeks off and then going back to work for 2 weeks in a light duty capacity (desk job), then I I guess the surgeon told me at about week 5 I should be able to go back to work with no restrictions. So that relieves me lot thanks for the reply.

It kinda depends on the kind of Tummy Tuck incisions.  I had the fleur de lis (anchor cut) the vertical goes from between breasts to pubic bone and horizontal cut goes from mid buttock, accross the front to mid buttock on the other side.  I had alot of muscle work done and tightening.

I am one month out - still have a 5 # weight limit, still wearing abdominal binder 24/7.  I did have some skin necrosis and am dealing with an open wound that needs irrigation/ dressing changes and will take a couple months to heal.

I planned for three weeks off work.  I have a desk job.  I did go back at one month for 3 hours - just 3 days and I was really tired.

Thanks, Cyndy!

This surgeon really didn't say why my initial TT failed.  The first surgeon says he used both vertical and horizontal plication (not sure if it's spelled right!) but this surgeon only saw evidence of the horizontal plication and nothing vertically.  This doctor didn't want to point fingers or make accusations but he said "maybe" they just dissolved.  I really don't know what happened.  But, this surgeon (Dr. Basu in Houston, TX) said I had about 7 centimeters of separation down my midline (from what I can recall him telling my husband after surgery).  He did three vertical rows of sutures and now my tummy is flat.  :)

Julie, you look great!  Your scars are almost invisible.  Who was your PS?

Wow that sounds just like me.  I just had to get my implants repaired from botched plastics (and I think after a few days out from the most recent surgery, I am going to have to get the revision done AGAIN, long story)

But I have also been having issues with my TT.   My stomach has been distended for months and no one can seem to explain why.  It's actually quite painful and I'm at a loss.  I am having one final test to rule out bacterial overgrowth, but I doubt that's it.

If I could, I would be suing my original plastic surgeon as the surgery was back in 2010.    I posted my entire story about a month ago.

Glad you are doing better now and the surgery went well.
