4 week TT, AL & open wound appt
I had my 4 week post op with plastic surgeon yesterday.
He removed fluid from my right arm.
He was pleased with the open wound on my belly. He did clean it out and got it to bleeding (which is good.). He did tell me to continue with wound irrigation and wet to dry dressings twice a day - and to be a little more aggressive with cleaning the "hole." I still need the abdominal binder. He did say I could wear a "heavy Spanx" garmet on tummy to get clothes to fit better (I'm going to work 1/2 days Tu/W/Th this week.)
He did not need to drain my belly. I was suprized as it is all puffy - but he said that was swelling.
I need to wear the ACE bandages on my arms at least 2 more weeks. I can wait 2 weeks for my next appointment.
I am to use Scarguard - ScarCare on my incisions and then cover them will Silicone tape strips. (ScarGuard available in drug store and Silicone strips came from his office.
Still have a 5 pound weight limit and he said to not overdo it. He also said I'm doing better than some of his 20 year olds (I'm 62!).
Feel like I will get back to normal some day. For awhile I was really having buyers remorse. I hate this open wound but I know it will heal and surgeon thinks it will leave a minimal scar.
