I am scheduled for a lower body lift and breast lift next week. I forgot to ask my surgeon how long I have to wait until I can swim. I will ask when I see him again, but just curious what others have heard. Thanks!!

I heard at least 6 weeks.  Not until all the scabs are totally gone!  I'm 6.5 weeks out & still have a few, so no pool yet, can't wait tho!  It's HOT in this part of TEXAS.

Next week..................girl I know you're excited!  I'm excited for you!

I wasnt allowed to swim or actually go in a PUBLIC pool for 6 to 8 weeks, I guess if it is your own pool it may be shorter except for the swimming part

Hi Laura,

First of all - congrats on the upcoming surgery! Good thoughts and prayers being sent your way.

As far as the swimming goes - I am a little over 3 months post-op (abdominoplasty-extended and breast lift) and I started swimming as soon as my incisions were completely healed. I never asked my surgeon about that. I probably should have. My case was different, as I had wound separation under both breasts. For a few weeks, I was under the care of a wound care specialist. When my incisions were completely healed and I was released, I went for it!

I was told once incisions are closed/healed and drain sites are, too.  I'm planning on going next weekend at 4 weeks post-op.

Thanks, everyone! Just trying to get a frame of reference. I will ask my surgeon when I see him. Hopefully I will find people to take my kids to the pool for me while I am recovering.
