Do I need the HELP..REALLY..?
cyndy,
thanks so much your encouragement! i can TOTALLY relate to you about the mom thing. when i had my RNY 2 years ago she supposedly came to help me but spent the whole time fussing over her husband instead of me! so for this i told her i didn't want her to come. i'm 29 and do everything on my own too. and i know that God has also been there for me too, i have trust in Him!
this is a verse that helps me, i want to share with you --- John 15:5
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
I'll be praying for you! we can do this!

I had a fleur de lis (anchor cut) Tummy tuck and brachioplasty at the same time - 1 month ago.
Since I had both arms "out of commission" I don't know that our surgeries are comparable. I had alot of pain with my tummy tuck for about one week. I could not get in and out of bed by myself.
I did put a firm pillow in my chair (to elevate the seat) and had a ottoman for my feet. My husband was home for 10 days, and I needed him. Again because of the arms - I couldn't reach, open the refrig, open a cupboard, etc.
Take your pain meds and get up and walk frequently. Drink water and keep yourself hydrated. Increase your protein ( i upped mine to 130 gm a day one month before surgery and will continue for 2 months after surgery.)
I wish you the best.

i am one day post revised lbl, inner thigh lift, and brach. i was walking 3 hours post op and have been off my pain killers since last night. (7 hours post op). My sister is here with me but I am already self-sufficient. I have a toilet riser on one toilet, and a walker chair on another (that I can also use in the shower.)
This is a breeze compared to the tummy tuck. But even after that I was able to get out of bed myself because I installed a stander bed rail.

Hello, how are you feeling today?.
My name is Julie and I am very interested in your wisdom and insight as I will be going in for a circumferential lift and brachioplasty on November 8th.
Any information you are willing to pass on as to what to expect at home, how you slept, or what supplies I will need would be great. I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
My husband will be home with me for that week, along with his sister to help me.
My curent list includes
button up shirts
pants with pockets (for the drains)
A raised toilet seat
Wedge pillow for bed.
I really need a friend through this.
Thanks

I am 3 days post op revision lower body lift and brachioplasty. I am feeling great and walking completely upright.
Your list looks good. I have been living in sweats and button up shirts. My plastic surgeon had me cut my binder in 3 strips so that I can wear it in the shower and always have one dry. I pin my drains to it.
I have a toilet riser on my downstairs toilet which I purchased from costco.com.
Invacare commode on my upstairs toilet which I also use in the shower to sit on or just for support.
Stander travel bedrail (costco.com). I had this leftover from my tummy tuck and it's nice to have now although not essential. I didn't have a wedge pillow so I propped myself up on pillows.
I have 2 of the bed pads (one side is waterproof) from the hospital from my first surgery, I keep one on the chair I sit on downstairs and one in my bed so my linens and furniture don't get blood on them.

So happy to hear you got a date! My sister stayed with me for a week after my lbl, but I really only needed her for three or four days. I couldn't empty the drains myself until the third day as I stayed pretty heavily medicated and just didn't care if it got done. She also washed my hair for me in the sin****il day 4 when we went to the beauty shop and they washed it for me. That was wonderful! And under the category of TMI, after I pooped (also on day 4) I felt tons better and kept feeling better and stronger from then on.
Good luck to you - be sure and let us know how it goes for you,
Cindy
