ANYON HAVE MEDICARE AND GET APPROVAL FOR PS?
Hi
I am just beginning this journey also. My pannis and mons hang through girdle garments, I have to hold it up to pee and the skin rubs when I excercise/walk till it bleeds.
I just had a second opinion with a PS yesterday and they are sending all documentations and lots of pics to BCBS for pre-cert. I told them if BCBS denies it my secondary Medicare will cover if medically necessary. They told me if BCBS denies it so will Medicare and they were shocked that Medicare paid for my DS after BCBS of Fl denied it. I am so frustrated with all this already but I need this done.
I am 40-60 pounds away from normal BMI but my wt loss stopped and I am 18 mons out. The PS says it is definately medically necessary so lets see if the insurance feels the same way. I even wrote a letter to BCBS of Florida to send with all the doctors stuff. I had seen first PS 3 weeks ago and my rash is way worse this time.
I hope someone responds to your post because I would like to know their answer also.

yep you are right, I forgot to post that lol. Medicare never precertifies anything. They will cover a panniculectomy only if medically necessary. I hope to see someone post that actually had it paid for by Medicare.
From what I understand you have to have at least 6 months documentation from Dr. of treatment for rashes, pics and documentation of excercise difficuties. Must be at stable wt for several months and be at least 18 month post op WLS. Pannis has to be touching thighs and be very large.
