Any Oregon PS Success Stories?
Hi Vicki,
Well, I had an extended TT, along with an incisional hernia repair in December, up at OHSU. My plastic surgeon was Dr. Thakar and I can highly reccommend her all the way around. She is very skilled as a surgeon and in obtaining pain relief for me with the procedures. She is also extremely personable, which I've found rare, in surgeons (!) In fact, in August I will be having an adrenal tumor and gland removal, along with her doing a thigh lift at the same time, if possible. I wouldn't even consider this if it wasn't due to the care I received from her. She used "On Q pumps" on the TT site, which produced minimal discomfort post-op. I went home with these pumps - one small tube coming out of each hip, and returned about 5 days later when they had complelely emptied and covered what would have been the worst days of the post-op pain. These pumps went right to the pain site, bathing the wounds in anesthesia. Evidently, these pumps are not used routinely by others I talked to, up at OHSU, and I was so grateful to have a surgeon who used them and was knowledgeable on the benefit of them. In contrast, the surgeon that did the hernia repair, knew nothing of the pumps and that area was extremely painful, so if pain control is an issue, (An old surgeon, I think, who wasn't willing to learn new tricks.) I would definitely seek out someone who offers this procedure.
Though I had lost almost 200 lbs., my insurance would pay for the pannulectomy only, so I paid the difference, which I'm so glad I did. It's unbelievable having a flat stomach the first time in my life, and not having all the extra hanging skin there. Now on to my thighs!
Feel free to PM me if you have questions.
