WELL...IT HAPPENED AND IT SURE WASN'T PRETTY..!!

I had my second visit at my surgeons office today...and the clothes came off and the camera started snapping...!!

FOLKS..IT WAS AN UGLY SIGHT... AND I AGREED FOR THEM TO SHOW THE WORLD JUST HOW UGLY "UGLY" CAN BE..!!

I'm trying to be a little comical here, but you know, really...it wasn' t all that bad...I stood in front of that camera like I was some kind of run way model...turning this way and that way...So what if everyone got a little sick from such a scary sight..!!

On a serious note...it went well and I'm all paid up and ready for July 7th to get here...
Got my prescriptions...and  have a question for some of you that know about drugs...IS 50mg
going to be strong enough for pain...I can take two at a time if necessary, but that just sounds a little low on the mg...It's Demerol...heck, I was thinking somthing like 500mg for one pill...not 50..!! LOL

Congrats on being all paid up and ready for July 7th - it will be here before you know it!  My pre-op is Monday and I'll let you know what pain med prescriptions they give me. 

The pictures are necessary but were a little overwhelming.  I've lost more weight since my consult so they're going to take more Monday.  I haven't given the ok for them to use the pics but might change my mind by the time this is all over.

bod...and in my case..my husband doesn't even know what I "REALLY" LOOK LIKE...HE WOULDN'T EVEN BE ABLE TO PICK ME OUT OF A LINE UP OF JUST ONE (ME).. Yeah, I have been a hider for a loooooooooooooooong time..!!

Congrats on losing more weight, as well...I hope to lose a few more...Here of late, I have become addicted to peanut butter...Peanut Butter, of all things...!! I have NEVER liked peanut butter, but for some reason I Just think I have to have a dip in that sea of creamy, nutty goodness...It's keeping me from losing this last few pounds...At least I'm at a stand still and not going up... but  MR. PETER...has got to fly out of my house and stay gone..!!

Congratulations Sweetheart!  Everyone goes through it, but your attitude is the right one!  50-100mg sounds good to me!  Remember, if your pain is not controlled, you can always have the physician call in a prescription for something else after surgery.  Everyone is different and some medications are more effective than others for each individual

The Demerol has always been what I have taken in all surgeries other than the WLS and I didn't need anything for that...( they may have given me something during and right after surgery, but the meds he gave me to take by mouth, I didn't take.)

The Demerol in the shot form works fantastic for pain, but I don't remember ever being given Demerol in pill form...Do you think it works as well as the shot..? I know I will more than likely have some pain, but from past surgeries..I'm hoping and praying this surgery will go as painless or as close to painless as all the others...

Because a pill is absorbed differently, it works differently.  Obviously it doesn't work right away like an IV medication, and some of it also gets digested or neutralized before you even see any effects.  It should work well for you, but you won't get immediate relief, so it is important that you take the pill before the pain becomes unbearable so that you're not playing catch-up!

Demerol dose sounds reasonable to me.  In the hospital we normally give, 50, 75, 100mg in injection or IV.

You can take tabs and break in half to get the 75 mg.  Use what you need the first couple days to help with breathing deeply, coughing and moving around (to prevent blood clots).  Then move your dose down lower and lower until you can take an OTC pain med like Tylenol.

I came home with 30 tabs of pain killer and still have 2 left at 2 1/2 weeks post op. (I also had a  pain pump with Marcaine that lasted me 4 days).

I'm feeling much better.  My tummy is doing well -still wearing my binder.  Only trouble spot is arm pits - the incisions are very tender, red & swollen.  No infection.  I think it is such a difficult spot to heal.  Skin against skin - little air flow- alot of movement with moving arms, reaching, stretching to floor for something, etc.

I am starting to get a little "cabin fever" so I know I'm feeling better.  I see plastic surgeon again Monday and should get the OK to work (even if half-days for a week).  I don't care what he says - I'm going to take these ACE wraps off my arms and wear  sleeved support/compression garment top, at least under clothes and then when I get home, I will put the ACE wraps back on for as long as he wants me to wear them.
