27 days till panniculectomy.....
and i am more nervous than with any other surgery i have had. once i got approval for my DS i felt relieved. i wasnt nervous at all, in fact the day of surgery i woke up and was excited beyond belief. i was ready. now i am in much better health but i am soooo nervous. i wont see my surgeon again till the week before surgery and he made no suggestions as to supplements or foods to avoid before surgery. i know to quit taking my vitamin e and k for 2 weeks before and after but thats it. any words of wisdom??
I can imagine it would be much harder to have this surgery since the incisions are so much bigger/harder than the laproscopic surgeries. That's what scares me too. I can tell you what I did before my VSG (I was scared before that one) is that I just distracted myself as much as possible.
I spent a lot of time on the phone with folks and watching TV in the days leading up to my VSG. Then while I was at the hospital I did everything I could to notice every detail about the faces and furniture and walls around me.
I grabbed magazines and read them and just as soon as a thought about my surgery entered my mind I would swiftly squelch the thought by thinking of something else. Even when they were about to put me to sleep I was concentrating on memorizing the color of the walls and the eyes of the surgical staff. Hope that helps and hugs...
