Surgeons...

 I am 2 1/2yrs post op and I currently have BC/BS POS or (PPO if out of state of Georgia) and I was advised by my doctor who performed my surgery that my ins. won't cover a tummy tuck or a panni..Does anyone have any resources available that I can try to at least have my insurance to approve my surgery.Any advice will be very appreciated..

I have BC/BS of PA and I called my insurance up and asked them and they said if you have documentations from your family doctor of rashes and treatments to send that over to your PS and after they submit the insurance for approval they will have a meeting to view your records and usually they will cover just a panni.  I am in the process right now of getting approved.

Contact your insurance company directly.

BCBS is the provider of insurance, not the company that decides what's covered. Call your insurance company and ask about reconstructive surgery. If your employer (or whoever is it that contracts with BCBS to insure you) has not excluded plastic or reconstructive surgery, they can tell you what the qualifications for it are.

One tip from my surgeons is that most companies exclude plastic surgery as being "cosmetic," but will cover reconstructive surgery as being "medically necessary." So ask about reconstruction, rather than plastics, and see if that changes their response.
