A bit disappointed with the mons area

I am 3 mos out fr having a full TT with lipo of hips and flanks. I have happy for the most part with the results thus far EXCEPT for the mons area. It seems to protrude a bit and not as flat there as i had hoped.  Its been bothering me quite a bit. My PS said that he couldnt pull up the skin any more in that area or my hairline would meet with my belly button and not look right so i think he did the best he could.

My question is could this be fat that settled or still some swelling? Will it resolove in time or will i need a revision? I plan to talk to him about it at my next app but  I dont have an appt with my PS for 3 more mos and wanted the opinion from others who may have had the same problems.

Thanks for your help!!!

Liz,

I wouldn't be surprised if it is swelling - my extended TT/BR/BL was in mid-January and I still have a bit of the "Ken doll" going on.  It actually looked much better the first or second day after surgery than it does now!  From the reading I've done on another message board, it sounds like 3-5 months post-TT (especially when lipo is involved) is often the peak timeframe for swell-hell, even in the mons area.   Gravity pushes the fluid downward - on my worst days, I even deal with swollen ankles and feet!

Debby--mine was much better at first too! I thought i was losing my mind so i am glad to hear it is not just me lol.

I HATE this ken doll thing-- i wanted to be able to show off my flat stomach etc but now i cover it in order to hide my mons )-:

My surgeons warned me that the mons area would stay swollen the longest, and to just wait it out.

Yeah, almost 6 months later, it's improving, but still puffy. I just keep believing that it'll go away eventually.

I hate to tell u this but I had my TT done 2 1/2 years ago and my mons is still puffy,I dont want it pulled up anymore cause my friend had hers tight and when she pees sometimes it squirts up when she is sitting on the hopper, so I m afraid of that. I thought of LIpo but my belly is so perfect other then the mons area that I am afraid to have it touched. my husband likes it so I guess I will keep it

Are you still wearing your garments? I am about 3 1/2 months out and notice that when I don't wear my garments the swelling is especially bad right in that area. It took me up until very recently t feel that that area had settled down as well. But I agree it's probably still swelling, I'm sure your surgeon will tell you to give it a bit more time.

Thank you ladies, i hope it is just swelling, it just bothers me sooo bad!!

I need to find a new compression garment...i wear control panties but they only help a little. What do you reccommend i use? My orig garment is too big now.

I also of course have some numbness...do numbness and swelling go hand in hand? Another patient told me she found as the numbness diminished the swelling went down but i dont know if its directly related?

Also, does anyone know IF a revision is necessary is it usually just lipo? He said he could not pull the skin up any higher.

thanks!!!

Hi LIz,

I had my Body Lift in December, 2009, but recently had a scar revision, hip-to-hip as that part of the circumferential scar became a keloid.  My mons was also puffy, but I was just living with it, happy that I had a flat tummy and low scar. Much to my surprise after the scar revision, it was flat and I was contoured in the V area where it meets each leg crease.  He snuck in some lipo while he was in there and it has made all the difference toward looking absolutely normal.  Since he had kept my scar low so it would not show in a bikini, etc., I would not have had an issue of hair line meeting belly button, but boy that lipo did the trick!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for posting about this. I am worried about this.

My mons is very loose and hanging very low.

Just not sure what its gonna do.
I have seen pics of the afters with the high hairline and hate the way it looks.
Plus I have seen pics where it is pulled so tight that it kinda looks 'spread open'.
Not a good look.
(Sorry, graphic, I know.)

Good to hear other's experiences.

I gotta prepare myself.
