I had the anchor cut abdominoplasty and came home the same day, only lived 7-8 miles from the doctor's office BUT I certainly agree you need SOMETHING to put under your butt the weeks following the surgery.  I slept on my back for almost 4 weeks and almost developed bed sores on my back side til I got smart and put foam underneath me.  I used a ring during the day when I was in a chair or on the couch.

Ask for something in your IV, before surgery, for nausea, too.  I always get a hit of something in the IV and have never been sick since I started asking for it.

Good luck to all of you -  it will be here and over with before you know it.  I can not believe it's been over 2 months for me!!!

Thanks Sweeheart..I wll ask for the happy juice, for I do get sick EVERY time for about 30 mins. to an hour, afterwards...and  I'm thinking that could be waaaaaaaaaaaay painful...!

The donut ring sounds like a smart idea, as well..!!

GOOD LUCK AND THE BEST TO YOU...YOU'RE DATE IS QUICKLY APPROACHING...YIIIIIPY-SKIIIIIIIIPY..!!

My husband will be around for a couple of days and after that I will be pretty much on my own...My daughter will be playing A LOT of fast pitch softball, soooo, My husband will be with her...I'm going to miss going to all the games, but I really didn't have a better time to have the work done...The summer heat in MS. is very humid and hot, so even after I'm able to get up and walk well, I would not be allowed to get out in the heat with the binder on...I'm already hot natured so this is going to be VERRRRRRRRY INTERESTING to see how I handle the heat, the binder, and having almost no help...

I have never had a surgery where I didn't heal quickly and where I had A LOT of pai that I couldn't handle on my own..My back surgery was the most awful pain EVER, but it was due to Muscle Spasms, and not the surgery itself...I'm praying this will be no worse than any other ...

I have been looking into getting a LIFT CHAIR, and even to rent one was $350 a month, so I decided that would be out of the question...My mom comes over yesterday and we are talking about the surgery and she says she will do what she can..I tell her all I was really concerned about was the getting up and down, and she says, "Well, do you think a lift chair would help you..?" I say, "Yes, I had actually been looking into renting one, but they were just too much even to rent...She says, "I have Mother's in storage. It's was only used for a month and very little even then..It's really like brand new. You can use it.."
I was stunned to say the least that all this time, she had my grams and I didn't even know she had one..WHAT A BLESSING..!! YAY AND THANK YOU, JESUS..!!

Sorry, about writ ting a book...

The best to you, Sweetheart..!!

Thanks Cyndy! That's wonderful that you'll get a chair lift for nothing! I'm going to call around again even if it's just for the 1st 2 weeks. I too tend to heal fast so I'm hoping i won't be stuck in the chair all day to long.

I've upped my vitamins per my dr and my protein and I've actually seen improvement in my energy and the little aches and pains I get with ahem "aging" is practically gone, so I think my healing will go well.
I  go for my pre-op visit tomorrow, I have a list of questions for him including mobility.....
