I just realized that in just 4 more wks..I will be in surgery...!!

Time is really flying by and my nerves are a little ratteled (or A LOT ratteled.)

I'm slowly getting things together..such as all the things needed for THE day and the days after...

For you that have been there and done that...Could you give me some advice on what to take with me to the hospital, that you didn't have, that you wished you had..?

The Good Lord willing..I will only be ONE day in the hospital and then I'll be going home...
I'm having the LBL..

Thank you EVERYONE..!

Hi Cyndy!!  How exciting - just 4 weeks!  You and I are having the same surgery - LBL.  I started my countdown at 92 days and as of today it's ONLY 14 more days until my surgery - oh my!!

My nerves are somedays better than others - today is the day that all the "don'ts" that my doctor told me about start.  Certain foods not to eat (due to blood clotting afterwards) and medicines to avoid for the same reason.  Also, today I have to start upping my protein to aid in healing afterwards.  I will be staying in the hospital for two nights per my doctor's requirements.

The big thing I'm doing is making sure that I get some exercise in every day to strengthen my leg and arm muscles so that recovery will be easier.

It's great having this board to chat with others who have been through an LBL or will be having one soon.  I haven't shared my journey with any of my friends, etc. so this is where I feel comfortable to chat.

Yesterday I took before pictures to have so I can compare them afterwards.  Somedays I can't believe I'm actually doing this and other days I can't wait until I can start seeing the results.

Good luck to you!

I know you are excited and I'm excited for you...Wishing you ALL THE BEST, SWEETIE..!

I haven't taken the before pics yet..I keep putting it off, but I know it HAS to be done..uuuugh....but like you, I do want to see the difference when it's all taken away and I'm left with, hopefully, a much improved body image.

The best to you, my friend..!

I had fluer de leis abdominoplasty and brachioplasty 2 weeks ago today.

I had a little bag I kept in bed with me (phone, iPod, chapstick, kleenex).  I was in so much pain - the iPod was wonderful - I listened to relaxing music and sermon podcasts to keep my mind busy.

The only thing I wish I would have had was a neck cushion (it has plastic beads in it) that I use under my tailbone.  I would have such "butt pain" and with not being able to move my hips or use my arms - I was very uncomfortable.I have to sit on it in the car, in chair at home and under my butt in bed - or else there is pain.

Have slip on shoes, a small pillow to fit under the seatbelt for trip home.  I also had a couple "puke bags" in car - just in case.  I'm short - so I had something to elevate my feet in the car (a 4 hour drive) to lessen the pull on my abdomen.

I also asked for some IV pain med before trip home and I had a pain pump that lasted me for 4 days.  As much as I hurt - I can't imagine not having one.

Best wishes.  Hope I'm not a downer - just fresh post op and still not feeling that well.

Hi Penny..

You are not a downer, Sweetie..you are just telling it like it is for you and others, too, I'm sure...
That does not make me feel down, at all...I'm just sorry you are not feeling well, and I do hope and pray, you will feel much, much better, and soon dang-it..!! If I was close by, I would run over and give you a great big, gentle hug...

Thank you for all the advice...I will be traveling for about the same amount of time as you did, so the pillow around my tummy and the something to elevate my feet is a wonderful idea...Never would have thought of that..

I'm having the pain pump, as well...I want to have anything and everything that could possibly help out...  :)

Thank you, Sweetheart..(FEEL BETTER)

Hahahaha!  I'm so nervous!  I have actually had insomnia since my WLS, so there's never much sleep happening here.  I've been so busy up until literally today (and I leave tomorrow morning to travel there) that I haven't even had timie to worry about it!

I will have my laptop and WiFi there, so I will be able to update once I'm feeling well enough, but I don't know when that will be.  I have a pretty gnarly reaction to anesthesia usually, so I'm not looking forward to 4-5 days of violent vomiting.

I STILL haven't decided if I'm going for lipo or not!  The surgeon doesn't charge for extra procedures, only extra OR time, so it's literally a difference of $500 and I can have ANYTHING I want!  I'm trying not to succumb to the temptation to become a Barbie doll

Danielle, if you get the lipo, just be sure he does not take too much out.  You wouldn't want to be left with saggy skin and have to get a lower body lift later...

So excited for you!!

Laura, you're so right, and that's what I'm afraid of! I don't want to be any smaller, just a little smoother. It's so hard to put your trust in a someone!
