brachioplasty 1 wk ago-how did you shave or use deodorant?

Hello,
I had a tt, hernia repair and bilateral brachioplasty 1 wk ago.  I am still very tender everywhere with my incision going all the way through my under arm.  How did other people shave or use deodorant?  The thought of either, especially shaving makes me cringe.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Lori

I didn't worry about either for a long time, months perhaps.  I surely would not do either until your wounds have healed.

I will be 2 weeks post TT and brachioplasty on Tues.  I don't shave or use deoderant.  Just shower with mild soap.  My underarms are "dimpled" with sutures and hurt when I pull on them by reaching.  They also burn if I overextend them.

May be fall before I even think about shaving!!

Most of my underarm hair is gone after my brachio.  Just a small patch about the diameter of a golf ball under each arm.

I didn't shave until things were entirely healed (no scabs or raised parts to catch the razor).  Probably a month?  After that, I shaved carefully.  I started using deoderant about the same time...but only if I was going out somewhere important...mostly I left it off.

It was a bit tricky shaving for quite some time as my scars/incisions pulled when healing for about 4-5 months.  But I was told to keep stretching them to make that improve - so if it hurt a bit, I did it anyway to keep things pulled as much as possible.  Everything is fine now - I have full range of motion.

before my Brachio I had to shave 1 or 2 x a week(that is the Italian in me) and use deodorant  all the time. well my under arm hair hardly grows and there is not as much as before.  I shave every couple of months, the first time was scary but for me what was even scarier was when I went to my PCP 6 weeks after and they wanted to take my BP I asked them to wait till next time and they did. I do not swea like I used to I still use deodorant when I remember but before I could not forget I carried anti-perspirant in my car now I just leave it at home.
my incision thru my armpit was so sensitive also and I had the same thoughts that u did
it will be fine u will know when the time is right

Thank you all so much for your replies.  I am thinking that I will be doing the same and waiting for a while!

I did not wear deoderant until everything was healed and I had many stiches kicking out so it took about 8 weeks-I would have expected to be stinking but I wasn't so was not as bad as I thought, so I did not shave until 8 weeks also but I used a personal trimmer-that light up in touch one you can get in any drug store it can get almost as close as a shave, happy healing !

Unrefined coconut oil kills bacteria and also moisturizes, so you could use that on your underarms after you heal a bit.

Sure thing.. just make sure you use the one that says "Virgin" on it. That has all of the good stuff. You can buy it at places like whole foods.
