Tissue donation?

LOL @ Avidreader's comment. Are you sure you didn't want to keep it as a souvenir? I was speaking to my hubby about having PS done after my DS, and he asked if he could keep it and make a hat out of it.  (Hoping he wasn't serious....)

I like the donation idea better. His kangaroo skin hat will have to content him. Besides, I hope I won't need to have that much skin removed.

When push comes to shove....shove hard!

Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.

Almost all skin is useful no matter that there is damage. Interestingly, the skin is not used as a skin replacement in most cases !  The dermis can be molded and folded and is used for everything from bladder repair, internal breast reconstruction after cancer, hernia repairs (as a patch) and even periodontal repairs.

I did research for the LifeCell company during my training as this material (called AlloDerm) was being developed.

In my situation, the added time needed by the OR staff to "tag and bag" the skin for donation is prohibitive, so I have not participated in the donation program.  Fortunately here is no shortage of skin, however I do encourage donation !
