1st post-op check
Dear Hubby drove me the 4 hour trip for my one week post-op check with plastic surgeon.
This trip was so much better than the one home the day after surgery - that trip was so awful (pain & nausea) and sitting up for 4 hours.
Dr. Sayeg took the JP drains out of my arms and said they look great. He said I didn't have my ACE bandages on tight enough. He also took out the pain pump tubing. I can't imagine the pain that the pain pump saved me - I sure had enough as it was.
He did a Fleur-De-Lis tummy tuck and my tummy is sooo tight. He left those 2 drains in and said he leaves them in for 2-3 weeks.
I have another appt next Monday. I can take a shower now - Hurrah! and wash my own hair. He wants me to keep my belly/hip binder tighter. He said he took my waist in by 4 inches! I've been in too much pain (belly & back) to really look it over. I can stand up pretty straight now.
All in all doing well. Rarely taking and pain meds. Drinking lots of fluids and trying to get 130 grams of protein in daily to help healing. Dr. told me today that "healing" really starts about week 3. I guess the first two weeks are recuperation from the trauma. He said he had really done "a lot of work" and that I have had very serious surgery.
I feel so much better every day. Still can't sleep through the night yet and trying not to nap during the day (I only took one nap the first week). I am taking it easy and trying to walk. It was 94 degrees here today - so didn't want to be outside and sweat because of the incisions.

Glad you are dong well, I go see Dr Sayeg on Friday for my 3 week post op. Im guessing he is going to drain a small amount of fluid off my tummy. Other than that I feel pretty good today, I just got home after working 10 hrs! Im ready for a hot shower and pjs. It is hot here today thank goodness for air conditioning, especially when wearing this binder! Everyday will get better hang in there. Im finally about 70-80 % back I think. First couple weeks were real tough. Stay strong!
