Follow-up in Seattle after surgery in Mexico?
Thanks, I've seen several as well.
Here are the facts:
1. If you read his reviews here on Obesity Help, they are overwhelmingly positive.
2. I've seen his work up close and am comfortable with it.
3. He regularly appears at and speaks at Obesity Help related events. If he was the butcher that some of the people on this thread are making him out to be, I seriously doubt that OH would continue to push him as a key speaker (and have for years).
Now, I've been on the Internet long enough to know that the next step in this inevitable process is for the various vocal minorty on this board to now begin attacking me. They'll accuse me of being a shill, for example (see the previously linked to thread for examples of that).
I honestly don't care. This thread was asking a simple question and only one person even remotely has offered any help, which should also tell you something about the other posters.
I trust the reviews on Obesity Help.
I trust that they wouldn't have him speak at all their events if he was a bad representative.
I trust my own eyes.
Now...one more time - can anyone help with the actual question at hand?

I can't give you any names, but you can try calling plastic surgeons, who, of course, are the only type of doctor qualified to manage, well, plastic surgery patients.
"You don't get what you don't pay for" in terms of aftercare when travelling, so talk about a fee agreement ahead of time.
See if your insurance, or perhaps travel insurance, would cover you if you developed problems while away and needed to stay longer or receive extra services.
See if your health insurance covers you for care of complications after you are home.
Ask about how you will be treated for blood clot prevention, since surgery like this plus the compression garment plus travel (over 3 hours) are all separate risk factors for blood clot development.
Check online for the actual agency that lists your surgeon's credentials, and understand that "board certification" means different things in different countries.
Check the accredidation of the facility where your surgery will be performed at: http://www.jointcommissioninternational.org/International-Es sentials-for-Quality-and-Patient-Safety/ and request their free "International Essentials for Quality and Patient Safety" handbook.
If cost savings is your main concern, consider a residency or University training program close to your home as an option.
Ask yourself (and any doctors you come across) why they are hesitant or refuse to take care of a patient following overseas surgery. As the lawyers say in latin "res ipsa loquitor" (the thing speaks for itself).
Hope this helps,
