Follow-up in Seattle after surgery in Mexico?
Hi,
I've read a lot of fantastic reviews about Dr. Quiroz in Mexico for body lift, etc, but am a bit concerned about finding a doctor here at home (Seattle) to remove the stitches and do follow-up. My gastric bypass surgeon won't do it, nor will my PCP.
Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors in the Seattle area that will take on those tasks following the cosmetic surgery in Mexico?
Thanks,
mark
Please do your research on Dr Quiroz before going there.

Then she is one of the lucky ones. It seriously concerns me that he didn't know how to handle an emergency situation and had his patient at the hotel alone so soon after surgery when she was so clearly not stable. That's a scary situation. I think any surgeon can have a good outcome IF the patient does well, it's when the crap hits the fan and the surgeon reacts appropriately that makes the biggest difference to me.
As far as a tips. YOU have to contact your primary care physician and make sure he/she is going to back you up if something happens once you get home. Also contact your health insurance and see if they will cover any complications that arise.
I'm in Mexico now - just had surgery on Tuesday and Friday. I stayed at the hospital for 6 days should any complications occur.

I appreciate your opinion. You've made it quite clear despite never having had surgery by him. And by the way, he never recommends flying home the next day. In fact he recommends multiple days in the local aftercare facility, depending on which procedure is done, and checks in himself multiple times/day.
Now, I really don't want a re-hash of the thread you linked to about the merits of Dr. Q. As I said, you've made your opinion quite clear and you're very much entitled to it.
I was really just seeking input on the follow-up in Seattle.
Thanks,
Mark
Thank Goodness I never went to him OR I might be dead now! The patient never flew home, he stupidly put her in a taxi and sent her to the hotel.
Nice way to treat a patient who was clearly unstable. I don't need to experience a doctor like that to have an opinion. I'm smart enough to know he'd be a dumb decision!

Since no one has responded from the Seattle area, you probably need to start calling PCP's yourself and asking them. Do you belong to any support groups? Maybe someone there can help you. Thankfully for me, my PCP is very understanding and told me he'd do whatever I needed if i decided to do my plastics in Mexico. We discussed this long before I was ready for plastics. But I have the opportunity to have my plastics in my hometown so I don't have to worry about my follow-up care.
Good luck to you.
