insurance cov /financing for plastics
I have lost about 130 pounds, i am 5'9 and i have lots of loose skin with celluite hanging between my legs, my stomach and under my arms. Oh and i forgot to mention that my breasts are sagging and one is noticeable longer than the other. My first question is what do i have to do to get my insurance company to pay for anything? My second question is what financing options are out there for less than perfect credit. I have heard people say that they have gotten their breasts and tummy tuck paid for by insurance. How can that magic be worked? And how long should i expect the process to take? I have already picked dr. lomanaco in houston texas as my surgeon. Love him!
Insurance coverage varies company to company and even within companies based on your policy. You need to contact them and find out what they cover and what criteria are needed to get them covered.
Mine (Aetna via UPS) covers panniculectomy only and I have to meet two criteria - 1- the pannis must hang below the pubis and 2-I must suffer from skin rashes (intertrigo) for more than 3 months that is NOT helped by prescriptions and medical treatment. I went to my PCP for every little skin issue I had and got it all documented in my medical records in order to meet criteria #2. I guess I'm lucky (?) in that my pannis hangs low enough. I had to submit pictures from my surgeon.
Each insurance is different, though, so you need to find out about your specific policy.
As for financing, a lot of surgeons accept Care Credit. It's like a loan/credit card for medical and dental procedures. You can google them and apply online.
Good luck!

Mine was covered due to continuing medical issues: rashes, scarring, infections for the LBL, and a chronically pulled/torn chest wall muscle for the breast lift/reduction and brachioplasty.
check with your insurance policy: call the number on your card, and ask for specifics, and then ask that they fax you the pages from your coverage book that confirms what they say.
Then start calling your physician and complaining about the issues that will get you covered.
Can't help you with the financing, but wish you luck!

I have Aetna and unfortunately my LBL is not being covered. I started saving for it five years ago little by little. When I chose my PS and spoke with the Office Manager I was given the total amount and also a credit card company name that specializes in financing plastic surgery, etc. I believe it was Care Credit? Anyway, she also mentioned that many of their patients prefer to put the costs on a credit card that has some type of rewards - airline mileage, etc. That is what I chose to do, charged it in three separate amounts and paid each one off before any interest. Good luck in getting your insurance company to pay - that would be awesome!
