No panni here--but I sure am having a problem with my thighs (concerned)

Hey all!!! I tried on bathing suits yesterday and I can honestly say from the waist up I am so happy!!!  I can see my abs--all the working-out I'm doing is paying off and my arms and upper chest look great (poor boobies though).  I am wearing a size 8/10 (M) suit!!  Never in a million years would I think that I could fit into that!!  Here is the problem...I can't wear my suit without a sarong.  From about mid thigh all the way up to the hip I have A LOT of loose skin, I mean A LOT.  It literally hangs.  As a result the cellulite on my legs is now awful (trust me I'm not complaining, better cellulite than a size 24) but I'm really self-conscience about it.   All the gym time in the world will not fix this and it isn't just my thighs that are hanging its my backside is too.  I'm a very shapely girl thankfully and in jeans my butt looks pretty darn good, but not so much without a spank on.   I've been researching that the results with lower body lift are not so great and there is a much higher risk of infection and tissue dying.  UGH.  Is anyone else out there like me?  Also, has anyone else had a lower body lift?  Due to how wide-set my hips are I know I would have the coveted "barbie gap" between my thighs if all this skin wasn't there.  I'm just not sure I'm willing to risk surgery if the result isn't favorable.

Thanks all!
April

If it's just your thighs that are bothering you an not much above the waiste you probably would want to go w/ the MTL rather than an LBL. The LBL removes the hanging skin from your stomach and but and does the outer thighs. From what you described it's more your inner thigh  area that's the issue. The MTL helps w/ that and lifts and removes that excess skin. I had an LBL and my inner thighs were still horrible. After the MTL they look great. I'm still not perfect and it was probably one of the most painful of my recoveries but the results are well worth it.

Hi, I am not familiar with the plastic surgery terms.  Can you please tell me what the MTL is so that I can research that procedure?  Thanks.

Check out my siggy. I've basically been reconstructed from the shoulders to mid-calf.

I had no problems with infection with either of my surgeries, and everything is healing well. I will say that I had originally planned to stop after the first round, even though my thighs made a shar pei look sleek, but when my thighs were compared with the rest of me, they HAD to GO.

Now, I'm 56, and while the skin is nice and taut overall, in certain positions (like climbing out of the boat), there is still some sag. But it's no more than the sag the younger boaters have.

The first time I noted the "Barbie Gap," I actually about fell over. I didn't believe it was possible for a human to have that!

As far as suits, check out Lands End, particularly in overstocks/clearance. They have their swim-mini available in several colors. I have 2 of them (keeping the sun off my incisions this summer), and they hit mid-thigh and are adorable on. Some of them are even body shaping, and at the clearance area are VERY reasonably priced. Additionally, if you get it and have the wrong size or just don't like it, you can return it to any Sears store - forever. Last year I ordered suits in the size I thought I'd be, and then had to exchange them twice before summer arrived for smaller sizes. Easy to do with this company.
