I always feel it's better to go in informed then not...but being a nurse, you know that you'll get good drugs....and also, it's temporary...and worth it!   Good luck, make sure to let us all know how it goes!

Don't worry; you didn't scare me.  I already knew how bad it was going to be! I'll let you know how it goes, but I am anticipating the worst two months of my life.

ya...i think two months is probably about right.....i'm not there yet so can't say from experience, but based on the pace of my recovery, and im about 5 weeks,  I bet i've got a good three weeks to go.....ugh...blah!   This sucks!

Try to be patient!

I know how my recovery is going to go because that's how it HAS to go.  I'm having surgery in Mexico on June 10th, coming home June 22nd, will be home a week and then have to take the NCLEX (nursing boards exam), and HAVE to pass first time.  Then I should be working the beginning of August.... which gives me eight weeks to recover.

Wow!  That's quite a schedule!  Well,  I think it's great that your staying in mexico for a good 12 days....being away from home will help you to stay still!  For me, being home was tuf, I have a hard time sitting around, especially when the house is getting messier and messier (I have two teenage boys!), laundry is piling up, no food in the fridge, etc....  Hopefully, you can be calm and peaceful and think of it as a little sedation vacation!

Yeah, teenagers are tough (and my gross roommates are messy too!)  I will be staying with my friend in Mexico, who used to be a nurse, so I should be ok.  I'm just a little worried because I'm not a good healer, and additionally the trip home may be unpleasant because of the flight and the drive after.  It also looks like no one will be able to pick me up and bring me home, so I will have to take the shuttle, which I can't really afford, and which takes longer.

For your flight home, request wheelchair assistance.  It is the only way to get back after PS.  I had a few $5 bill ready for tips.  I also took 3 pain pills for my trip home, which was a 14hr day with time changes.  I was exhausted by the time my daughter picked me up and took me to my house.

For the OP, I am a pain wimp, and I was pleasantly surprised that the pain was minimal.  I had an LBL, BL, arms and sm upper thigh at once, then 4 days a full face lift.  Mostly, oral pain meds after the IV was out.  I did take my Perocets after the facelift as my ears hurt being forced back against my head and the stitches.
