I'm making lists of what I'll need pre and post-op for my LBL.  My hospital stay will be two days - would love any suggestions of what to pack for the hospital and what to have on hand when I get back home - thanks!!!

My mom, that's pretty much what I had at the hospital and at home. Sure that really doesn't help you much but someone who can help you out is the most valuable thing. Doesn't hurt that my mom is a registered nurse. For my LBL I did have my mom bring back some protien drink since the hospital didn't have much on the sugar free front and needed something in my stomach for taking pills late at night once the kitchen was closed.

sonnie - can I borrow your Mom??  My Mom has been gone since 1989 due to MS, but I know she would be very proud of my weight loss journey and understand that the next step is PS.  Thanks for the idea about the protein shakes!

Sorry about your mom. You're right she would be proud of you. If you were here in town I'd send mine right over. She's actually doesn't mind sitting in the hospital while someone has surgery, she's funny like that.

I too wondered what to take and searched online for advice.  (Didn't find much!)

I had my surgery last Friday.  I took a backpack with some clothes (socks!), chapstick, tootbrrush, etc.  I didn't miss anything / wish I'd remembered something.

Good idea on the drinks - I missed my coffee creamer and splenda in the mornings.  They brought some but not enough.  I might have brought some snacks too - I was ready to eat and got a few yucky hospital meals.

But overall, I didn't bring much and didn't miss anything too terribly!

Good luck!

I always bring Crytal Lite sticks to mix in my water.  One mixed into a hospital pitcher (giant mug) of crushed ice and water helps me get more fluids in.  If you are a big coffee drinker ask someone to drop by each morning with your favorite brew.  My husband always brings me a big coffee with half and half everyday.  Good luck, Loris
