Well, my consult went like this - I met him in his office and we talked, he showed me pictures of others who were my height and had lost similar amounts of weight.  I then went into an exam room and undresed to nothing, put on a paper gown and he and an escort came in and he told me what he could and couldn't do.  He did some markings with a blue marker and tried to show me what I would look like after my surgery.  He asked if I had questions and/or concerns.  I then got dressed and we went back to his office and discussed the quote.

That was it!  I had 4 consults here in Colorado and decided to go with Dr. Sauceda in Mexico.  I'm returning a week from today!

12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.

Here's my experience -  I started interviewing plastic surgeons about a year ago.  I went in with a basic list of questions as I was interested in a LBL.  The ps my doctor recommended seemed disinterested and basicly told me I could just live in spanx type garments - even though our summer**** 100 degrees.  He also told me that he specialized in hand surgery??  But through trial and error I believe I have found a wonderful surgeon.  My first visit I filled out paperwork and he read it over, asking me a lot of questions.  I was in a gown for most of it.  He did have an assistant with him the entire time.  As it is a big decision, they told me that I could come back for a second consultation at any time at no charge.

An assistant did take pictures for my file and I met with the office manager who explained to me the cost of my surgery, and gave me a folder with all the information I would need.  This included what pre-op tests I would need, what medications to avoid, etc.  They are very big on no smoking (which I don't do) and even had a form stating that if I tested positive they would cancel my surgery.  This is due to healing afterwards.

I did go back for a second consultation in March and my surgery is scheduled for June 21.  I asked him to mark where he felt my incision lines would be and I was happy with what I believe will be the outcome.

My biggest advice is to research all you can and interview several surgeons.  Hope this wasn't too long!  If you have any questions - don't hesitate to ask.
