Excited, Scared, Trying To Prepare

Okay, so my summer is planned and looks like a lot of surgery and recovery.  I am hoping that some of you who have been here before can give me some "I wish I would have..." or other ways to prepare (protein increase, working out, etc.)

Here's my deal.....
June 23rd Exploratory Lap w/ j-plex (pretty much tacking up my intestines to try to stop the reoccuring pain)
June 26th (or 27th) - July 6th  leave for a conference in Chicago
July 7th - arm surgery (outpatient)
July 18th - must return to work (no lifting or anything)
July 27th- abdominoplasty, medial thigh lift, and outer thigh lipo
August 20ish -back for the start of a new school year :-)

I knew this was my plan for the summer, but in my head I had until July 7th to be ready for surgery, but it just dawned on me (I don't know what I was thinking) that I have to be "ready" by June 23rd b/c I won't be able to lift weights for those 2 weeks between Exploratory and Arms.

Anyway, what can I do know to help prepare for all of this....
I have already started "nesting" and cleaning my house, I have increased my protein, and am trying so hard to lose 10 more pounds prior to July (I am okay if I stay where I am, but I just want to lose that last little bit), I am also working out daily (weights everyother day w/ 45 minutes on the elliptical and running the other days).
What can I do to be more prepared?
SHould I purchase anything?
What did you wear while you were recovering?

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

  • Medial Thigh lift & Brachioplasty - Dr. Macrea 7/2011
  • LBL - Dr. Joseph Michaels (Sibley Memorial) 12/22/2011
  • Upper Body Lift with Mastoplexy - Dr. Joseph Michaels 12/20/2012

I barely started my recovery so hopefully others will chime in with more advice.  I just wanted to say what's working best for me now to wear.

My surgeon's office suggested button up tops, because I had my arms done lifting them above my head to get dressed would be hard - plus with the button up I can just unbutton my top to care for my drain, etc.

Since I'm swollen so big, and risk oozing fluids on my clothes, I wanted to go for things I considered disposable.  I found the best deals in the clearance section at WalMart - I bought a few men's button down shirts for $1 each, and some clearance Valentine's day boxers for 50 cents.  I got a whole post surgical wardrobe for under $10.

I'll have to upgrade to something better when I'm ready to leave the house, but these have worked great over the last few days.

http://www.vedettestore.com/eng/details.php?id=70  This is my favorite shapewear for days I'm getting all dressed and going out.

For just around the house I have  several Flexees midriff to thigh corsets (MO6868) and I wear that w/ separate Flexees shapewear leggings.

For sleeping I leave the leggings on and wear a velcro midriff binder that I purchased @ a medical supply pharmacy.

I'm about 10 weeks post of and honestly can't imagine not wearing the binder.  Still feel very vulnerable w/out it.  I'm supposed to wear it anyway so I guess that's a good thing.

I think you're wise not to have the arms done @ the same time as the abdominoplasty.  I really relied on my arms for several weeks.
