6 Months post-plastics update with pics...

Hello all.  I haven't been around here much lately - but I thought I'd pop in with some updated pics and my thoughts on 6 months post TT and arm lift.  Actually, we're going on 7  months now, but you get the idea...

I have a fleur-de-lis TT and brachioplasty on October 19, 2010.  I had no complications and was back to work in two weeks.

I did have some issues with stitches "popping" out through my incisions for about 2 months.  Little bits that I had to clip or pull out.  I also started to develop hypertrophic or keloid scars about that time.

My left arm in particular is the worst.  The bottom portion (about 6 inches) of both arms have red, raised scars.  The left much worse than the right.  The rest of my scar (under the armpit) has healed very well, is flat and lightened so that it is almost invisible.  Kind of makes me sad knowing what the bottom of my scar SHOULD look like!

My verticle scar also has some hypertrophic areas.  The horizontal scar is fine.  Much better than my lower arm incisions, but still there.

I used silicone sheets for about 2 months, 23 hours a day.  My dr. had me tape them to keep them in place - but I began to get rashes from the micropore tape and stopped - as I didn't seem to be seeing much results and was worried that the tape was going to make more scars around the incision!

I am now using two custom compression sleeves (like burn victims wear) with silicon underneath those.  Kind of uncomfortable as they are really tight and make it a bit hard to bend at the elbows.  But I do notice that the scars when under compression are considerably lighter...so hopefully over time, this will become permanent.  In the fall I'm going back for a "boob job" and the surgeon plans on doing a revision of my arms and verticle scar as needed.  He feels that a revision with less tension on the scar and different sutures will lead to a different result - since the rest of my scars healed well.

Would I do it again? For sure.  I still wear short sleeves as the placement of my scars is such that they aren't super visible in most positions.  And I figure that even if someone sees the scars - they don't look as bad as the previous, crepe-papery skin!

My tummy incision:

The right arm scar - a few raised spots and some redness, but the bottom half is healing nicely.

The left arm scar.  My worst scar.  But again the bottom portion is healing perfectly. The marks on my skin are from that darned compression sleeve.

I hear you Susan.  I feel that way for sure.  I wish all of my scars had healed the way some portions of them did - but I'm still better off now than before.  So I'm happy!

And I look damn good in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt with my flat belly and thin arms, if I do say so myself ;0)

Thanks!

Have you had a revision for those scars or did they lighten up on their own?

Trying to be patient..:0)

Thanks Renee.  I'm really happy with how he made my waist look!! ;0)

I have noticed that with the compression garments, my arm scars go white.  And they stay white for a bit when I remove the sleeves.  Which is good news I think!?!
