XP: How To Tell My Mom I'm Having Another Surgery?
I certainly know what you mean about perfect timing. i have been planning on plastics since before I had my RNY and know that i would do everything after graduating nursing school, but before starting to work, allowing myself ample recovery time.
I don't have any real advice for you- my parents have known all along I planned on having plastics so it wasn't a surprise. I would just tell her why you want it- if you feel comfortable enough show her what your breasts look like now after all the weight loss or show her pre/post plastic surgery pics of baraitric patients to help her understand what years of obesity and then weight loss does to our body. this might help her understand. good luck!!!

Do you think she is going to be upset about your health and safety or the financial part? Or will you need her to take care of you and worry she won't want to? Just be ready to explain everything to her.

This is really tough! No matter what, you probably won't be able to get her completely on your side, but the sooner you get this over with, the better. What I do for these types of difficult situations is approach it like a job interview and really just prepare. I write out everything I'm going to say, thinking about what arguments/spin might likely resonate the most with the person. Logic works with some - give her the reasons you are doing this, emotion with others, but what ever your initial approach is, I then try to anticipate what I will do if she asks me X, or what if she cries. Try to anticipate all her questions and issues in advanced so YOU feel as prepared as possible in what is sure to be an emotional discussion. Good luck!
And also, I am SO excited for you sweetie! I am so happy that you're having this. Although I like my tummy tuck too, my breast lift has been the part that I am most happy with. I too, had had saggy breasts since I was in college and then with the weight loss....I HATED THEM! And now I have these cute nicely-sized boobs that I love! I can wear a tank top without a bra and without looking like I have golf balls in tube socks hiding under my shirt! I bet you will have amazing results as well!

Mine happened way faster than I expected as well, from consult to surgery in 2 weeks! I also had a perfect window of opportunity work wise that I wasn't sure I would get any time soon, and I was just ready! That didn't give me much time to get too scared, but I was really nervous. My friend who had to wait a long time between consult and surgery was a complete wreck, LOL.
