Stressed and Need some help/advise

Hey everyone! I am a new member to this site, and so excited to find such great support.  I had RNY in 2001 and like everyone else, I have gone through this amazing journey, and a few steps closer to feeling like a "normal" human being! I am finally seeking out plastic surgery.  I never thought this day would come and just determined to live with all this left over flesh...but, I have finally decided life is short, and for once I want to feel good in my own skin!!  Anyway, with that being said, I have had 3 consultations, today was my third and I have settled that this guy is who I really want to do my surgery!  He was awesome and when I left I felt total peace, he answered so many anxious questions I had left even after seeing 2 previous surgeons....EXCEPT one little thing!!!  I went from feeling so excited and going home and researching and thinking am I gonna get the results that I desperately want..and here is the issue.  Both previous surgeons suggested a fleur di lis tt for optimum results.  I really could care less about the scarring, and had an open RNY so really doesnt make a difference.  So, I had that settled in my mind.  I went today to a VERY reputable surgeon who has done MANY post bypass patients.  I asked him about the procedure and he said he doesnt do them.  He says that it affects the blood flow and healing, and its not something he does nor does he feel it's necessary. He said that I will still have great results without, but that totally contradicts the previous opinions.  Now, although I feel so at ease with him, based on reputation (Dr. Rumalla in southlake TX), cost, and all of that I am worried I will have a muffin top!  I got home and just did some research and I am hearing so many posters say they wouldnt have anything other than anchor.  Are there any of you that got a regular TT and didn't get results you hoped for??  I just hate to spend this kind of money and not be 100% satisfied (although he assures me I will, but I DO have loose skin above the belly button).  I need some opinions soon, I am kind of in a time crunch!  Thanks in advance everyone!!!!

Why don't you go see Dr. Kasden in Southlake and see what he says. I've seen his tummy tuck pics and they are fabulous. He is very passionate about working with weight loss patients. He has some videos on his website too.

He did my thigh lift and did an amazing job. Good luck!

If you want to see my before and after pics, they are in my profile. I didn't have a fleur de lis and I don't have a muffin top at all. If you do want to see, just send me a friend request and then the password is LoMonaco.

I shed 200 pounds, so clearly I had some loose skin. First PS told me I just needed the LBL, second told me I needed anchor cut and the third told me I was borderline for needing one and we agreed that he would make the final decision on the OR table after he saw how things were coming together.

As it turned out I didn't have one and I am as slim through the waist/stomach area with the LBL as I would have been with the anchor. No muffin problems, nice and sleek. Another factor was the second PS I saw does not do the LBL so he was pushing the one surgery that he does perform other than the routine TT which wouldn't have been optimal for me.

Look at the Surgeon's before and after pictures - hopefully you'll find someone with a similar body to yours who had the results you hope to attain.

Both your surgeons can be right in this instance. Fleur-de-lis incisions are much more finicky, but they do a very specific thing (remove upper central ski/fat) that nothing else will do. I perform them on occasion, but I would stage it if you were having a circumferential body lift type surgery personally. You may find that you don't need the effect with that type of surgery.

Thanks ladies, and Dr. Oliver for the responses!

I feel so ridiculous, but Shelly, I went to "add" you as a friend to your profile and I can't find a place to add friends...HELP!  I would love to see your pics, thanks so much!

And Dr. Oliver, thanks for your response...I still am really torn by what I should do...I am not doing a LBL, the Dr. said I have a pretty good backside!  But, I do have skin above the belly button and A LOT of skin at the bra, flank area and this is a HUGE concern for me and believe it or not, there was so much going on in the consultation that I didn't express what a big deal that area is to me...I know the tummy tuck will not improve this but, I am getting a lift and implants as well and when that area was addressed (briefly)  he said it could be improved by the lift???  It's excessive skin at the flank area, in fact I have seen a lot of before and afters on this site and have yet to see a before picture that is as bad as mine?????  He didn't even mention an extended lift as a previous surgeon did...

UGGGHHH, this stuff is stressful!!!!!
