I can't give you any specifics about your case, however, the scheduler/insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office told me that there was "no use" submitting to insurance for any of my reconstruction. I told her to submit, and that I would collect the letters of medical necessity from various doctors/specialists. She grumbled, but did it, and I was approved for everything the reconstructive surgeons had on their list.

She still says she doesn't know how it happened, but I do know that if I hadn't pushed her to submit and did the legwork to get the letters, nothing would have happened.

Push the other surgeon's office, and ask your original surgeon's office to contact them as well. They might be surprised.

It can't hurt anything to submit to the insurance.  I am having my thighs done next week but am self paying because about a year ago my insurance sent out letters stating that under no cir****tances would they cover arm or thigh lifts.  My previous insurance covered my arm lift 6 years ago but today they do not cover arm lifts at all either.  Take lots of pictures of the sagging skin and any sores you get, that is how I got my arms covered.
Good luck.

I don't have your insurance, I have United Healthcare and they clearly state they will not pay for any plastic surgery.  It's policy/employee specific so even if you found someone with the same insurance, yours may be different.

I have so much excess skin on my thighs that my knees pop out of place while I'm walking!  It's horrible!  I'll be self-paying for my thigh lift, unfortunately!

I'm having my face lift done in a month and self paying for that also.  I can no longer sleep on my side because my excess skin falls forward and blocks my nose.  It's another mess!

Good luck with your insurance.  You may be one of the lucky ones!
