Am scheduled for a LBL/lipo/butt augmentation/full thigh lift in 2 weeks!  I've upped my protein, will begin my surgery vitamins tomorrow.  I'm wondering tho about after surgery....how much should I push myself to try to walk around, will that help or hurt the swelling?  Should you just focus on resting?  When should I be able to start driving, get out of the house some?  Just want to try & be sure to do the right thing.

My Dr. recommended walking as soon as possible to avoid blood clots. Nothing hard but just moving around. I had an LBL & brachio and was walking my neighborhood within a week and was back at the gym walking on the treadmil at 3 weeks out when all but 1 drain was removed.  I was allowed to drive as soon as I was off all pain meds but w/ the LBL didn't drive until about 3 weeks out since I had people willing to take me out. I went out to dinner and a movie @ about 2 weeks out and by the end was pretty tired and worn out and had to take pain pills & valium to make it thru. Sitting in a restaurant on the hard seats and movie theater seats wasn't the most comfortable. You may be less mobile because of the thigh lift. My thighs were the most painful but I was back to work at 10 days post op. Walking was more difficult but was back to normal life and going to a night club at 3 weeks out.

I had a lbl, ba/bl, and butt augmentation. I was walking in the hospital the second day out, and after discharge, my dr's instructions were to walk 30 minutes three times a day. The fourth day out of surgery I was pleasantly surprised to see that I did a mile in one of those 30 minute walks according to my Body Bugg,  but my dr. told me that was a little too much. I felt much better than I ever imagined, though.

I was able to start 10 minutes of step aerobics a day my second week and the time increased each wee****il I was at full steam with that and running. You will probably be little different since you're having the thigh lift.

I could start driving once I was off the pain meds, but he wanted me to take only one trip a day the first few weeks, to limit the pulling that getting in and out of the car does to the incisions.

I had my two drains taken out on the 7th day, and I do know we made some short trips to the book store, etc. while I still had the drains.

Follow your dr's instructions to the "t" and be sure and ask questions if you don't understand something, and you will likely have a good recovery. All the best to you!

I walked the corridors the first day post-op. I didn't feel I was "pushing" but I was tired after a few rounds and had to sit awhile before getting up to walk again. However I didn't have a thigh lift or liposection - I had LBL/hernia repair/auto augmentation with arm lift etc.

It"s important not to lie all day in bed - better to be up in a chair and/or walking even a small amount to avoid clots. You will be extremely swollen post-op due to the fluids they pump your body with during surgery - probably more swollen that you will be at any time post-op.

I didn't drive for a while because I felt so weird/uncomfortable sitting in the car due to auto-augmentation. You can't drive until your body has cleared any prescription pain medication. I was out of the house a few days post-op with others driving the car -shopping for groceries, running errands and escaping boredom of being stuck resting in that darn lounge chair position.

Good luck on your surgery.

now theres an old familiar face! Skylar!!!!!!! congrats on your acomplishment! I'm so impressed! are you happy with your results? I'm so happy for you!  I have 49 lbs to go before I start to get some consults on my skin removal, still thinking about what I would actually want to have done, did your insurance pay for any of it?

Wow, I'm so happy to hear that -  isn't it great that we have both done well? I'm so proud of you. My insurance paid for panni removal, hernia repair and tumor removal - I paid for everything else. I was upset that they wouldn't pay for arm lift since removing the tumor without it would have left me with a very mishappen arm - but they wouldn't budge. Oh, well, I'm thrilled with how I look now, it was worth the money.

That is so great! so glad to hear it! I will probably send you some messages when i get close to consult time myself, I know for sure I will want my arms done, like to have a LBL and my thighs done as well, but I dont know, will have to cross that bridge when I come to it, how drastically did your PS change your weight and clothing size?

P.s. sorry to hijack this post
