safety issues/breast implants?
Hello all
I'm I year out from my VSG and I have a ps consult in a few weekds. My breasts have always been very small but now after two children, weight gain and weight loss they are itty bitty and I can't even fill out an a-cup:(
So, I really would like to have some small implants and my only concern is the safety. How have you been able to get over the safety concerns of having implants in your body?
Thank you!

I have saline implants and I have no safety concerns. If one of my implants forms a leak it will just be absorbed into my body, no harm done. A lot of advances and improvements have been made with the silicone implants as well. Normally a routine MRI is done to make sure the silicone implants don't have a leak. With saline a leak would be very noticeable because your breast would just deflate. My implants have a warranty and will be replaced if anything happens.

Ditto what Rene says. I actually have more concerns about the plastic water bottles I've been drinking from all these years than I do my saline implants. I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions. There are many sources of info out there now, and your ps should also be able to help you out with anything you have questions on.
You may also want to check with your ob/gyny. I chose to not have implants for a variety of reasons (NOT including safety), but my gyny said they sometimes feel in their practice meetings that they should recommend them to any patient who is at any risk for breast cancer because they actually make it easier to examine the actual breast tissue and identify problems early.

I had a mass removed from my breast last year, this was just before I was considering plastics. I talked to the breast surgeon about implants and their safety, she said go ahead, like another poster said, it can make a lump easier to feel.
Best wishes!
