How did you know you needed the Anchor...??

Hi Everyone...

My surgeon has not mentioned the Anchor Cut, but I was wondering how you knew you needed it for sure...?
I'm having the LBL and guess I'm a little confused on why some do and some do not...I want to make sure I do ALL the right things and if the Anchor will help with the outcome of a better result, I need to check into it...So, I guess the question is..WHY you had the Anchor and WHY some of you didn't..??

Thanks for any advice and info.

Hi there. I'm certainly no expert. But my anchor is scheduled for 8/8.

For my surgeon, it was the enormous amt of extra stuff hanging for me both above and below the umbilicus. I have lost 165 pounds and carried alot of it in my belly.

He felt the best results would be with the anchor.

I'll be interested to see how others weigh in!

Hi..

Thank you, for your response...

Most of my saggy, baggy elephant skin is around the belly button and below...I do have some sagging ABOVE the BB, but I have this huge tire around and below the BB, so I guess that's why my surgeon never mentioned the Anchor...I know he is going to do some lipo around the upper part of my hip.. around back ..My hips look really slim at the sides, so I want need any there...

I know you are excited about getting it all done and over with..I am, too.! My surgery is on 7/7 and it seems like time is just creeping along...I'm all about do it now, already...but I know it will be here soon enough..I just hope it all goes well for the both of us...

The Best to you and thanks..!!

I was a lot like that, most of my sag was below my belly button, but I was concerned because I had a little above, too.  None of the PS I consulted with said I needed the anchor cut, though.

My stomach is so tight now.  In fact I have to take Lovenox injections to prevent blood clots, and the nurse had to ask the doctor how to give them to me because you're supposed to squeeze some abdominal fat between your fingers for injections - and I have absolutely nothing to squeeze.

I had about as much sag above the belly button as below. At the original consult, my surgeons did not bring up the anchor. But once we knew what insurance approved, I asked specifically if it would improve my results. The surgeon grabbed and pulled above the LBL line, and said "yes." So I opted to have it done. I also learned via that interaction to ask a whole lot more questions about what would give me the best overall look when things were done.

Best of luck to both of you - it's a thrilling (and agonizing! LOL!) experience!

My surgeon "hmmmm and hawwwwed" about it.  The reasons NOT are the more visible scar.  The reasons FOR was a tighter waist/hourglass figure, and the ability to really get rid of stretch marks/rolls above the belly button.  It can also do a bit of a "lift" through the hips/outer thighs with your TT.

I kinda pushed him toward the anchor.  If he was waffling - I figured he felt it could produce good results, and I was more worried about having an awesome bod in clothes than a bikini-ready belly without scars.

Mine told me if I could live with the scar it was the best way to go for me - I do have the small waist and great hips now and he did the muscle tightening - all of these things have made my back pain totally disappear.

My TT is scheduled for 6/21 and my skin issues are all below the belly button - on top it's perfect (hooray for the one part on my body that no one but my husband sees LOL) so I don't need the anchor per my dr.  I don't have anything extra around my hips or back either - my waist is narrow except for the skin hanging down - I am counting down the days!
