Just wondering how long it took for your belly button to look somewhat normal again?  I had a tummy tuck 12/27/10 and my belly button is still very dark in color and look terrible.

Thanks!

Mine was a few days before yours, but (other than the pink scar ring) looks normal. Have you asked your surgeon?

I haven't asked my surgeon.  I canceled my 3 month follow up apt and still need to reschedule. I will call today.  Thanks!

I had panniculectomy on March 3 and PS gave me a new navel.....it is still healing.....I go see him this Friday but spoke to hime over the phone about this because my hip to hip incision is fully healed and navel is still oozing a bit!

He said that the belly button is simply a scar and sometimes it takes 8-12 weeks to heal.....now as far as the color goes I guess it depends on how you heal...

I am a fair-skinned black chick and thankfully I do not keloid as alot of black people do with my scars....Out of 10 kids I had 3 c-sections and I also broke my ankl badly which required surgery and all my scars are barely visible like stretch marks..

right now at 4 weeks out my incision is very dark as my others were but at about 6 months to a year they fade to my normal complexion......yours probably will too...you can start to use cocoa butter or pure vitamin E and that will help also

BTW....you look amazing!....do you still wear a compression garment and/or binder?....if not when did you stop wearing yours 24/7?

I have to go without mine to allow my navel to get air and heal..

Thanks!  I stopped wearing my compression garnment at about 10 weeks post op.  I still swell a little especially when I exercise.

Mine always looked normal - no bruising or color change when I first looked on the second day post-op. Also this scar was the first area to fade.

Some people here have had problems of necrosis with their belly buttons and complained that their turned black. Surprisingly for some of them, over time their navels healed just fine while others did lose theirs - and there are things the surgeon can do once the area has healed to make a new navel. It's a problem because this is the one area that may not get sufficient blood flow post-op to heal, especially if you've had abdominal surgery in the past. I hope your navel heals beautifully.

Thanks.  Mine isn't black but it is much darker in color than my other skin.  I keep hoping it will lighten up.

My surgery was in December,  The belly button feels healed but it is a bit dark in color but not any darker than my other scarring right now.
