I had the vertical with muscle tightening - you definitely get the "hourglass" look.  Only part I'm NOT happy about is the vertical scar which just doesn't want to fade.  I had a scar revision in November and its still very red.  Now - the panni scar you can hardly see - funny how different parts of MY body heal differently!

Now - $4k to upgrade I think is a lot.  My upgrade was $1000...

What is the difference in the tummytuck vs the panniculectomy. I need to make a choice on including the tummytuck in my panniculectomy but I just do not understand the differences.

Pannelectomy will only remove the apron... likely no contouring.  You likely have a lot of stomach sag, and that requires the vertical cut.

Talk to your surgeon about what he does differently in a panni versus tummy tuck.  I've discovered that some docs add a little to the panni in order to give you better results.  Technically speaking, the panni is just for skin removal of the pannus or area that actually hangs down.  So you'll end up with the lower part of your belly flat.  What it doesn't do is take care of excess skin from around the bellybutton up.  Depending on how you carried your weight, and where you excess skin is, you may end up with a flat lower abdomen and a serious muffin top.  The panni doesn't include muscle tightening.  It may or may not include the mons lift (it kinda depends on the surgeon).  Most surgeons will tell you that you'll be happier with the tummy tuck, and I think they're right!

I had to pay $2,000 extra for it... and I would pay $4k.  It makes a HUGE difference,  I was at goal, and there just wasn't any amount of diet or exercise that would have made the rolls go away.  Truly, it is transformational!
