Ok...Who here has had a tummy tuck that their insurance company paid for?

Are you willing to share your story with me?

Is a hernia enough for them to pay for a tummy tuck?

Did you go to a plastic surgeon or you RNY surgeon?

I'm sure I'll have more questions to follow...TIA!

I just had my tummy tuck 2 1/2 weeks ago.  Insurance paid for it but at first they denied me and said it was cosmetic.   I grieved the insurance decision and wrote a letter to them stating why it was not just cosmetic listing such items in my letter as...had massive weight loss from gastric bypass, rash under the fold, back pain etc.  They then sent me an approval letter with the authorization number on it.
Good luck to you

You had your RNY through the Doc I was originally hoping to have it through.... the military moved us, so that didn't happen. I was wondering who do you have for insurance?

Wow, you guys are blessed.  I just wrote an 8200.00 check to my PS for my upcoming surgery.  I have back pain, but have had it for years.  No rashes, etc., just plain ugly skin hanging down to my knees!!!

Go for it, all they can do is deny, but at least you tried.

i had my TT a little over a week ago (3/22), and my insurance is covering the whole thing...  i had my GB out at the same time, my WLS surgeon did both...  i got almost immediate approval for the panniculectomy, but they went back to them and got them to approve the full TT, though i'm not sure how...

i am doing good, except i'm really tired of sitting here most of the day...  getting bored...  i still have 3 drains in and have to walk stooped over for another week and a half...  my back is getting angry with me...   but i keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end!!
