Save my Tatas!

Ok, so I'm looking into having plastic surgery (breast lift, and maybe some lipo and a butt-lift), and really struggling with whether or not I need an implant as well as a lift.  I don't really like the idea of having an implant and don't want my breasts to look "fake," but I have always had large breasts, and have broad shoulders so I feel like I need larger ones to match my frame.  I began this journey at a 34HH, and am now stuffed into a 30F or 32DD, but I am looooooooong.  I would hate to have all of that skin removed and go through the expense and pain of surgery, only to have teeny boobies.  Thoughts?

Have you had any consultations yet? The surgeon needs to determine how much actual tissue you are left with or if it's mostly skin. Mine were long too and mostly skin. I had very little actual breast volume left. Prior to my lift with implants I was filling a 36DD with skin only. I opted for an implant and I kept my size. Now they are just much firmer and in the right place. I also have broad shoulders and having a 36 B chest would have left me very disproportioned.

I have contacted several surgeons here in Southern California, but they all require a deposit of over $100 for a consultation which is then applied to the surgery cost, but I don't feel comfortable committing to a surgeon without even speaking to him or her, so I've had phone consultations but nothing more.  Also, I have been quoted anywhere from 8k-11k, which has started me looking into the possibility of having surgery in Mexico, which would allow me to have everything I want done for less than the cost of one surgery here.  That definitely adds another layer of nerves though!

A lot of times if you e mail a surgeons office and ask if he does a seminar or something like that, they will offer you a free consult. I have had 5 free consults that way.

I say get an implant if you have no mass left. I went from a 42ddd to a 34dd but the surgeon said once he got rid of all of the skin, I would be a small B!! Holy crap! So, I am opting for implants.

Yeah - a consultation is your best bet.  I just had my first one today and we opted to forgo the implants and just do a lift.  Was a 44DDD before and am a 34D now.  I have enough tissue left that he anticipates I will be in a large C after my "lollipop" lift.

I agree with you, with not wanting them too small.  I am finally at my goal weight at I am wearing a 38 A (and it sags too boot)!!!  It is almost impossible to find bras in my size without ordering them online only to have them not fit and have to ship them back, so I totally understand you not wanting to be a member of the itty bitty ***** committee... LOL

I wish you luck and hope you find what you are looking for.... I would not want to have been on the other hand and have to deal with what you are going through.... At least I can get some majorly padded bras at Victoria's Secret or someplace like that....

Hope to hear your success story soon....

HUGs,

PS... finding a 46 B was almost impossible before I lost the weight too!!!!!

I have never bought a bra in a shop unless I was in Europe.  You just can't find 34HH in a store!

For those of us with long folds, many doctors are now doing breasts in 2 stages, anyway:  a bl first and then add the implants 3 months later.  It gives better results.

Thanks for your input.  It makes sense but since I'm cash-pay and a starving student, two separate surgeries isn't really possible for me

Hi :)

I recently had a breast lift without implants.  Before RNY i was a 44H, after the weight loss i was filling a 36DD with very long breasts.  My surgeon said I had enough tissue left over to fill out the breast nicely when he did the lift and he anticipated me being a C; he thought on the smaller side.  Even though I'm 2 months out from my lift I still havent gone bra shopping, he wanted me to wait a bit because of swelling and then I had a LBL 3 weeks ago with a revision on my axillary scar and I have some swelling again- I will probably go bra shopping within the next week or so but I did try on one of my sisters 36Cs and it was kinda tight.  I'm thinking I might actually be a small D.  I guess time will tell.

As an aside- I know the feeling of being a poor college student i just graduated from nursing school myself- about to take the boards in a few weeks!  looking forward to actually starting my career, this is my 3rd degree and school is really getting old!
