Did ice packs help?

I'm going on Thursday for my TT - and I'm so excited!

I'm making sure that I have everything I need during recovery at the house so nobody has to run out and pick stuff up for me.

Does anyone have stories to share about using ice packs to keep swelling down?

I would be careful with the ice packs. Because your nerves will cut, you won't be able to sense cold at the level you did before. You don't want to damage your healing skin by leaving the ice on too long. Check with your surgeon and see what his/her protocol is for keeping the swelling down.

That said, it is good you are preparing so well ahead of time. All the best to you, and let us know how you're doign once you're able to post!

Hi - I've had seven procedures with the same surgeon and the only time he's recommended ice (he actually recommends using frozen peas), was for lower eye lid surgery.  I didn't use ice/peas after my TT.  The compression garment should keep the swelling down.  Good luck

Check with your surgeon first; ice/cold causes vaso constriction which decreases blood flow to the surgical area and thus inhibits healing.

I did use ice packs (well bags of frozen peas and carrots) very briefly a couple weeks after i had a breast lift and brachiplasty bc i had quite a bit of swelling- truthfully they were not very helpful.

Wishing you all the best for your procedure please check back in and let us know how you're doing!!
