I had brachioplasty on 3/9 along with BL side of chest and aggressive lipo ti the thighs. I'm so paranoid about my arms.. How long before the range of motion comes back.

For me it was probably a good 4 weeks until I felt like I could extend my arms fully. I was just very careful about reaching over my head and any kind of heavy lifting. Even after regaining the range of motion you will most likely continue to have some numbness. Just go slow and hang in there!

Hi - I had my arm lift on 12/2.  It took a while for range of motion to return and even now I feel pulling, when I extend my arms overhead.  Probably 3 months.  It is getting better, though.  I still feel numbness and expect there always to be some of that.

I had more range of motion post op than most patients - don't know why except that I kept my sodium below 1500 mg which reduced my swelling significantly - still had swelling related to healing but none from retention of fluid. I was able to lift my arms up to close to my jaw line. At my 2nd week appointment my surgeon gave me an exercise to be done 10 times each day. I was to lift my arms up in the air with the final goal being my arms were close to my ears. I was supposed to do it slowly every day, each day lifting a little higher - this isn't supposed to hurt, nor are you supposed to force to the point of damaging your wound - just slowly over time to reach the goal. It took me about a week to reach point, but I was so close to start that I think most patients take a lot longer. The reason for this gentle stretching was because the scar area can thicken under the arm pit area making it harder to stretch if you wait too long to stretch.

I'm a little over 4 months out now and I rarely even think about my arms - they feel normal except for the numb section due to the cutting of nerves - no pain or swelling and that burgning sensation that used to come and go shortly after surgery seems to have disappeared.

I had my brachioplasty and breast lift on 11/18/10 -- so, about 4 months ago.

I was able to raise my arms above my head from the 2nd or 3rd day ---- but I still have some tightness -- mostly in the evening.

On days that I work out hard, I feel some swelling and tightness -- so I just stretch nice and gently for a few minutes.
