Did you use the Make Me Heal Vitamins/Mineral supplements before your surgery..?
Hello Dr.L...
Thank you for all the info.
I had a blood work up in Feb. and most things look good.
WBC..6.0
RBC..4.73
HGB..14.1
Glucose..89
Potassium..4.3
Calcium..9.1
Total Protein..8.
Is there anything that I should be looking at..?
Of course my Lipid Profile is all wacked up...
I have not been put on any meds for that as of yet, but when I go back to my PCP in Sept., he said he would more than likely put me on something if things didn't look better.
High Cholestrol runs in my family...Mine is 230..=(
My HDL is 52
I know you can't give me a lot of feed back on this for Professional reasons, but if something looks off, I would appreaciate a heads up that I can discuss with my own surgeon before heading out into this new journey of PS.
Thank you for your support to all of us looking into PS.

EDIT..I had the Gastric Sleeve.

No anemia but I like looking at transferrin, TIBC, and ferritin to see about your iron reserves and protein status. Total protein is not a helpful test here.
You may be a patient who has no deifciencies and would need only routine supplementation

Dr Sauceda wants you to stop Vit E, which is in most all multi's. Make Me Heal vitamins has the only one that I found w/o Vit E in it. While I was on the page, I read up on the SinEcch and got that myself. I really didn't bruise from the lipo, surgery or much on the face. Some on the cheeks and neck and a little under the eyes, but nothing like I thought I would.
The stitches were kept moist with and antibiotic ointment, that I also brought home and used until the scabbing was gone.
ETA: I also bumped up my protein 3-4 weeks before surgery to 150-200g and after. I'm two months out and still getting between 150-200 g of protein in. My iron levels were good, but I continued taking 2 ProferrinES cut up every night. They don't cause constipation and are easy on the stomach.

I didn't have WLS and since my diet meets and usually exceeds the RDA, I don't take vitamin pills so I can't answer that part of your question.
I was given a long list of medications (both prescription and OTC) as well as supplements and even some vitamins, as well as garlic and ginger that I had to stop two weeks before surgery. Some of these were vitamins and shakes commonly used by WLS patients - all of these are things that can interfer with clotting and healing post op.
As I said, I take no vitamins, I'm 57 and I've healed very quickly - and since you did well with your back surgery it sounds like you're going to be fine with your LBL. BTW, my surgeon also had blood drawn early as Dr. L mentioned to acertain that I was a healthy candidate. It's good that you're on top of this.
