the mons pubis is the fatty tissue over the pelvic bone, the area between your abdomen and labia.   I have a very large, puffy mons area and that was lifted/reduced addressed during my LBL last week.  I did notice a significant change day 1 post-op of course now I'm so swollen it almost looks the same as before, but it will go down!

I had a big fatty mound, that Dr Sauceda lipo'd before he lifted it during my LBL.  There is still a little swelling at almost 9 weeks out, but it is so much better than it was.

It's a lift of the excess skin and fat in the pubic area. It's commonly done during a tummy tuck. For some reason mine was not done during my tummy tuck, and I hate the way it looks. I've heard it also makes sexual intercourse more enjoyable, but I wouldn't know that - it's been decades since that was an issue!

My dr didn't touch mine either and I don't know why.  I even mentioned it at preop and thought he understood.  I need to find out at my next check up why the heck he didn't do anything to it.

Mine was also taken care of during my LBL, however I still think it's a little too puffy and wish   it would go down more. Does anyone know if surgeons would also address it during a thigh lift? I want to get that done when I lost my last 30-40lbs, so if it doesn't go down any further by then maybe he could take care of the leftover fat.

Very important that you address this with your plastic surgeon during consults, if this is something that is a concern for you.  I'm scheduled for my plastics on april 19, and consulted with 5 different doctors before selecting my doctor.  some of the doctors brought it up on their own, and some did not.   The doctor I selected said, that many times, PS's with inexperience working with weight loss patients, sometimes do not address the mons, and it usually results in dissapoints on the part of the patient.  I told my doctor, that, I want to look pretty, ALL the way....my tummy and my pubis area....

If you do decide to go forth with plastics, make sure to address this area as well.  I know, for me,  I was embarrassed to bring it up at first.  But i've since learned that this is a very common condition for those of us with massive weight loss.  It can usually be addressed with the TT, they simply lift some of the excess skin, and usually a bit of lipo.  I guess in some extreme cases they do what is called a formal monsplasty.  This entails making an incision in the fold of the groin area, and removing some of the skin laterally as well as lifting horizontally.  My doc says that is not usually necessary except in extreme cases.

Hope that helps.
