Hi all.  I am 6 months post LBL and I still get really sore sometimes.  Not really painful, but like swelling or bloating just makes my incisions tender.  Normal?

Also still having soreness and weird feelings when running.  Anyone else?

When does it all end?  Pretty ready for it to go away.

I also had a stich work its way out...maybe that causes some of the soreness?

I'm about 5 months out I think...stopped counting a while ago lol.

I get weird "zinger" pains and itchy spots on my arm incisions sometimes - about once a day.  Less often on my TT incisions, but it happens.  I still have some moderate numbness in both areas as well - I can FEEL, but not feel normally if that makes sense.  I wonder if it is just that the numb area is smaller than the width of my finger...so wherever I can touch, I still feel something?

When I run, my tummy muscles cramp up big time.  Sometimes it gets so bad that I have to cut the run short.  Kinda feels like getting a charlie horse in my abdominal muscles.

Is that what you're talking about?

Misseye,

All normal for me.  I am a year and a half out and still have areas where the nerves are regenerating; feeling returning to areas previously numb, little electric-like shocks of renervation; scar tightness if I become bloated, occasional subcutaneous itching.  It doesn't happen with any regularity anymore, but still does happen.

I'm glad you posted this question and that others farther out than I have responded. It's good to read what to expect further out.

I'm 4 months out and having that occasional zap - it can be quite painful but lasts seconds so it's tolerable. I find my hernia repair still feels weirdly tight. The muscle area, when I exercise or am very active feels like it's swelling and makes me feel stiff in that area yet it doesn't change how my pants fit.. I haven't figured out why it feels like it's swollen yet I can't see swelling like I did when I was first post-op? It feels similar to how it feels if you do too many abdominal crunches and then you feel it afterwards - maybe it's muscle cramping? I also get it if I'm careless and eat too much sodium - then I pay the price with a little swell from hell.

None of my incisions are tender, but then they never really hurt and I didn't need pain meds after the first day.

I think if you had a stitch work it's way out, the soreness would only be localized to that area.

Oh yes Missy.  I am 5 months out now and still swell all the time.  My skin feels so dang tight and if I turn over in bed without paying attention it sorta pulls my skin and ouch.  Doc says it's not uncommon for swelling to last for a year!  God I hope not, but am prepared for it.

I still can't bend too far backwards...like doing ball crunches, I don't like to go too far back on the ball.  Everything is just still too tight so I proceed very gently.  I'll be going to Houston for my 6 months checkup in a few weeks and can't wait.  I just want assurance that all this is normal.

I hear you about being ready to be back to normal.  i can't even imagine waking up and not being tight.  Ugh.
