TT Date Set - March 24 - I'm really nervous - is it worth it?
Hello everyone - My journey started 3 years ago and I have gone from 250 down to almost 150 pounds now. I've selected a plastic surgeon here in California and I'm so nervous that I've got just two weeks until surgery.
For those of you that have had tummy tucks I'd love to hear a note about if it was all worth the pain and healing time.
I need a bit of encouragement if you have some to share.

1000% worth it and would do it again in a heartbeat. I actually had an LBL & brachio done at the same time. I had very little pain and was off most of the painkillers except for sleeping by 5 days out. Love the results, can't tell you what it does to actually see a flat stomach instead of a roll hanging below my belly button.
I am only 2 weeks and 3 days out from my tummy tuck, so I may not have the whole perspective that you need, but despite the pain and recovery time thus far, I feel it absolutely worth it. The first week was really pretty rough for me, much worse than the RNY, but with enough painkillers it was manageable. Week 2 has been very good and I have been back at work full-time since Monday (though I do work from home on a laptop, so it's easy).
The most annoying thing is the really really tight skin feeling and the compression garments, more so than the pain.
BUT although I am still swollen, not having that ugly floppy wrinkled loose skin hanging down on my belly is the best feeling ever! I am also really happy about the lift I got in my girl parts from the procedure! The thought of being able to wear a bikini someday is mind-boggling and so exciting!
You will be fine, you will do great, and like everything else, you will get through it somehow!

Glad to hear your answers, ladies. Thanks for responding to this question.
I, too, will be a self pay and have my surgery scheduled April 8. Now that I have made up my mind, 3 years after my RNY and living with this skin, I can't wait to get it over with and be on the other side.

I have a new philosophy, I'm only going to dread one day at a time. Charlie Brown
Happy I did it and would do it again. The emotional part (which you're dealing with now) will need to be recognized and dealt with. There was physical pain, and I took pain drugs for about 6 days... but I LOVE my flat tummy!!!

Hugely HUGELY worth it!
We went in this week to discuss the possibility of breast augmentation (DH would like a little more, and I'm willing to think about it), and the surgeons had my pre-op pic and my 1 month pic side by side.
I didn't look like the same person. Seriously. I mean, pre-op I looked ok in clothes, but there was a whole lot of me stuffed into things to achieve that. Now I fit into clothes, which is a whole different story!
I look better, I feel better - this is wonderful. I was fortunate to have my surgery covered by insurance, but I would have paid for the changes I got.
