Xpost - Home from panniculectomy!

Pardon if my post doesn't make sense - I'm drugged.

Had my panniculectomy yesterday.  From what I can see so far - lots of bandages - my tummy looks so much better.  I'm sore, walking hunched over like an old lady.  Drains are irritating, but nothing too bad.

The surgeon found a hernia which she repaired and she gave me a new belly button since the old was included in the skin that was removed.  4.5lbs of skin was removed.

It could be the drugs - but my tummy actually looks thin to me.  That is such a major thing!

I'll update later -- but right now, it's good to be home!

congratulations! and a speedy recovery!...mine was march 3rd...did you come home same day or were you kept overnight?

my Dr. said he removed over 6 pounds of skin from my abdomen and when he showed me my tummy for the first time...I was shocked at how flat it was!...I too have a "new" navel...

dr. sent me home on cephalexin (anti-biotics) for 5 days and percocet!....I was high for 5 days....legally..lol..............however the percocet caused a serious back-up so make sure you take stool softeners and a laxative if that is the pain meds you have....just a warning!

how many drain did you have?....I had 1 drain to deal with, Thank GOD! an it is tedious..I was so afraid I was going to get it infected so I was compulsively sanitizing everything every second...

dr. took mine out on Wednesday so hopefully yours will not be in for long...he told me to wear my binder 24/7 and I like when my DH pulls it supertight....

rest well...please update soon when you are able.....I am sooo happy for me and for you!

Thanks B-daygirl!  I spent one night in the hospital.  They did 24 hours of iv antibiotics in the hospital and was sent home with percocet too.  I spent last night heaving due to the morphine, percocet isn't bad - but I'm going to try to go without except for bed.

I hope I can get rid of the drains (2) in a week!  The surgeon said it could be as many as 4 weeks before they can be pulled.  Thanks for the warning on the bowel issues - the last thing I would want is to be straining.  Ouch!

Thanks for the support!
