Too far out?

Is there such a thing as being too far out from surgery to have abdominoplasty or some other procedures?  I'm 3.5 years out and still in the "thinking" stage.  I figured if I start now, I might be able to work up some medical necessity, and I'm also thinking I need to pay off my car in case I have to start paying off a plastic surgery bill, which means it would be another 2 years before I actually do it.

Hi,

I worked with a lady that took something like 7 years in between the weight loss and tummy tuck. She loved her results (she had a belt lipectomy where they cut all the way around). It's great you are going to start preparing financially for this now -- that way you can be confident about the $ part going into surgery. It's not like we are celebrities and can just cough up a big check like nothing :)

No, you aren't too far out. If anything, it will help that your weight has been stable for that long and has given your skin time to "settle". Hope it works out for you!

I had RNY in July 2005 & didn't have plastics (extended abdominoplasty/BR/BL****il January 2011.  I'm thrilled with my results, so my answer would be "no",  there is no such thing as being too far  out!

I am 3 years out this month and just yesterday put a deposit down for surgery on April 8.  I looked into it 2 years ago but had to seriously think about it.  I tried to live with all this extra skin and decided I can not live with it.  I am so excited now that I have made up my mind.

I am having the extended abdominoplasty with some lipo - I also told him while he had me asleep if he wanted to so some sympathy surgery he could!!!  Wish they would put a screw on top of my head and just turn it to lift everything!!!

I started looking into PS last June.  I met Dr Sauceda in Aug and was still thinking and it just snowballed into just do and get it done!  When I'd finally decided I wanted it all done at once, it went pretty quickly.  I didn't think I could go in for 1 or 2 procedures, recover and do it again.

I'm so happy that everything is done!  I'm 8 weeks out today from LBL, BL, arms and upper thighs.  I giggle everytime I go by a mirror, see my perky boobs and flat tummy.

Oh, my medical necessity was, I want real boobs again and this skin gone.  Selfish, probably, but it's just me and puppies at home.
