panniculectomy vs Abdominoplasty with BL and Aug
Hi, I'm 14 months out of RNY and have gone from 5'2" 270 to a size 6 117lbs. I have Insurance covering a panniculectomy but wonder if I should do a full TT and pay the difference? Anyone want to share their expericence?
How long would I really be laid up after a TT? And is it a lot more than just the Panni? I have 2 small kids 3 and 7 and need to be up and around sooner rather than later.
I am working out and am pretty firm, abs in great shape, just loose skin. I am also having a breast lift and augmentation done at the same time.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Tess, I have read on previous posts that people regret not adding an additional self pay procedure to do the whole thing as it left them with a muffin top between the bra line and belly button. Ask your doc how much he/she feels it would cost to do the whole works. Base your decision on that, but also let them know about your need to care for your children and whether there would be any additional recoup time.
Thank you so much for the reply. I have a figure from the Dr as to the difference in price. I worry about caring for the kids. DH works all day and will do it all once here. I am nervous about that aspect. So I was thinking...... hmmmm, do I really want to do it?
I want the results, just not to have to do the surgery! LOL! Too bad that's not an option huh?

omg thats what i just did about two weeks ago! Insurance paid for the panni and i paid the difference to make it a full body lift ($4770) i am very very very happy with teh results it looks like i was never over weight! I think youll reget it if you dont do it. The different between the two is huge! Plus it will prob be half price....your getting the best bang for your buck! Not gonna lie for me the 1st few days were hell... there was pain not sure with TT but with the lower body lift u wouldnt be able to carry your kids or bend for awhile. i'm 2 weeks out now and can pretty much do anything with no pain....bending is still hard! Good luck :)
Jennifer, thank you for the reply! Wow a LBL, it sounds daunting! But I'm really glad that you are doing so well 2 wks out, that's great. I'm glad you love your results. How many days do I need to have someone with me after surgery. Would I be ok for by myself for the day, the day after surgery? For say 7 hours or so? I want my husband to be able to go to work that day. My back side isn't all that bad. My poor thighs really could use a lift (I kind of have "scrotum thighs" ) but but I can dress around that. Excited to get the BL and Aug which will help with the rashes I'm having and bring much needed relief!
Enjoy your results, I bet you are so glad to be on that side of surgery now! Let me know if you have any other advice or tips please. Thanks a million!

thanks! Yea it was pretty crazy. fo me i couldnt shower myself or get out of bed myself so yes you would need someone (again thats with the lower body lift may be diff with TT) I'd say youd be ok alone as long as you have your meds close...some snacks water and you were sitting in a chair with you feet up. bathroom could be the only issue but if you went slow u could prob get up yourself fine with just a TT My thighs are so gross but like u said u kinda have to pick and choose your battles. Im def getting my arms done i'd like a BL as well. moneys and issue so ill have to save for sure i pray someday ill have enough some day.
