Yahoo news :Stomach pacemaker to help curb appetite
So far, about 65 patients in two studies have received the device from U.S. pacemaker manufacturer Intrapace. Only about half of those have had the pacemaker for at least a year, and most lost about 20 percent of their weight and kept it off.
Most of us need to lose more than 20% of our excess weight :) But it's an interesting idea!

The reality is you don't need anything except to change your diet to shed weight. You just have to eat less calories that you burn. I've lost almost 200 pounds by changing the food I eat - after all when you have weight loss surgery, those that are successful long term are the ones who generally made serious and permanent changes in the way they ate. I figured if I had to make changes to be successful with surgery, then why not make them without surgery. And I'm not the only one to achieve success this way - some might call it the old fashioned way. Yes I know the argument is if I go back to eating the way I used to eat I will gain all the weight back and more, but this diet has made such an impact on serious health issues that I had that I can't go back. More importantly I have changed my taste buds and no longer find that food tastes or even smells good. I never starved myself, my diet demands that I eat enough food that I feel satisfied - of course if you are starving then, alas you will go back to old habits.
Leechetta, are you now regretting that you had weight loss surgery as well as your reconstructive surgery? Do you wish you could get this new technology?
edited to add: The irony of my massive weight loss is that I went on this diet for health issues, I knew I'd shed some weight on it but never, ever, in my wildest dreams I would shed this much and so quickly. LOL
